Channels dropped
My tv service provider seems to be fighting with CBS. Several channels, including CBS and the CW, are now missing and replaced with a message saying that “CBS... has removed this channel from your lineup.”
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a negotiating bluff? Or am I really not going to have major networks unless I switch providers?
I get 35 channels form St. Louis, Mo. with this antenna that I built myself after long experimentation. It's about 3 feet long and weighs a lb. and gets the major networks. Old antenna parts and aluminum from Lowe's got me going. This is a yagi antenna and it has 4 pick up elements as big as a man's thumb. You can see them in the middle of my design. I've mounted it over 30 feet high and on my tower. Setup is done by website and a compass just like a satellite dish. This is for over the air channels only.
It is all about $$$, they will negotiate & return shortly.....
Yes.... A few months ago DirecTV started flashing a screen that warned of the possibility of losing some major channels. I called to threaten going to Dish if that were the case. Since I live in the woods... I don't have cable TV as an option for TV or Internet.
So I am addicted to the Smithsonian Channel and noticed the other day they started flashing the same message you received. They are owned by CBS also. not sure what to do about it except suck it up and wait in line until I can rule the planet.
Yes, but the price hasn't dropped ! Dont know who's being the dick , CBS or Direct TV ?
Right? AT&T blames CBS but I suspect they couldn’t settle on a price and are BOTH being dicks.
Yes you might want to look into internet TV. Something like the Roku or Amazon Fire Stick.
My Cable company was up to $200 per month for TV/internet and a phone line.
I got rid of the Phone line and TV and spent money of streaming services such as Netflix and Prime. (There's Hulu etc...). I have way more channels now and less interruptions. In fact - less commercials even on the free channels.
Cable companies get up to some serious nonsense. I'm rather glad to be rid of them with their sudden cost increases. (And lack of competition).
Yeah, I know it could be cheaper, although I’ve heard stories about companies jacking up the price of high speed internet if you don’t get other services from them.
Plus I’m pretty hooked on some new prime-time programming and don’t want to wait a year!
I haven't firsthand, but I have seen this kind of notice on channels in my area. Cable providers will get into feuds with local channels over the rates they pay and the channels will refuse to let them air if they don't get what they want sometimes. If enough viewers complain, sometimes they'll come to an agreement rather than lose the revenue from people switching services.
It doesn't affect me anymore since I just stream things through the PS4. I do miss CNN, but that's about it...
