From what I recall of the article, I believe the server only assumed the woman was pregnant. If she felt strongly about it, she should have just refused to serve alcohol and told her why.

No one has the right to actively tamper with another persons food or drink. You can't make the decisions for them.

Waiter is a self-righteous ass. None of his/her business. And was he overcharging for the drinks? Looks like he may have cheated the establishment too, or at the very least caused extra work for the coworker who was trying to keep the inventory straight.

@ToolGuy Everyone knows alcohol is not good during pregnancy (although a recent Harvard article says some might be ok), but that is not the point. If he was truly concerned, he should have handled it differently, without making assumptions and being deceitful. are you saying that dishonesty is ok?

Well he followed his convictions, who know what experience he has from his wife/girlfriend/friend who has had a child with alcohol induced syndrome.

Not his business to decide for her AND the guy didn't even bother confirming that she was pregnant. He assumed from an overheard conversation. 100% not ok.

Hard question. As far as my pregnancies, the day I realized that I'm pregnant I didn't drink or smoke till I finished nursing. About two years including everything. However, it is the woman's body. Does society have the right to tell a pregnant woman how to live?
