Following up with my last post a lot of people assume that someone in a wheel chair has mental issues when i worked with the disabled i would see this a lot.You also get the ch.
pushers that will pray for you,or try and get you to go to church
I have worked with a few people in wheelchairs or using crutches; all were intelligent, one was a genius in his chosen field and had moderately to severe mental health problems, which a common side effect of thinking.
After my stroke, before I got my droopy face fixed & got back (mostly) good speech, it was UNBELIEVABLE how crappy people treated me when they thought I couldn't respond...a few were looking for new jobs after my very detailed & articulate complaint letters showed up! (I'm talking to you, Bus driver guy!)
No, I never assume someone in a wheelchair has mental issues.
Big assumptions there, Norman.I have neverr made that leap from mental problems to mobility problems 9 except they both start with "m" )
This is based on experience not assumption it is not a blanket statement but is true with a lot of people.
