American comedian Kathy Griffin said upon accepting her Emmy:

"A lot of people come up here and they thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. He didn't help me a bit. So all I can say is, suck it Jesus. This award is my god now."

In a 1991 interview with Ladies' Home Journal, Kathryn Hepburn said:

"I'm an atheist, and that's it. I believe there is nothing we can know except that we should be kind to each other and do what we can for each other."

We could help the learning without pressure. Teachers are important and you can teach yourself as all the self help books say.

British actress Emma Thompson:

"I'm an atheist. I suppose you can call me a sort of libertarian anarchist. I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It's not enough to say that I don't believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing: I am offended by some of the things said in the Bible and the Qur'an and I refute them."

And her acting is superb ! And she's wa-a-a-y smart too !! And gorgeous. What a combo.

And she is decent and humane. Never got into the drug scene. Keeps her kid out of the public eye. I admire her tremendously.

She's such an badass! Look how many years ago she publicity came out. Kudos to her!!!

Famous Atheist: Bruce Lee

I didn't know Bruce Lee was an atheist. I've watched all his movies and read the book by Linda Lee way back in the 70s

@TimeOutForMe When asked during an interview what he considered his religion to be he replied "None at all."

@Sgt_Spanky
Thanks for that. We learn everyday.

Silence of the lambs was/is the only scary thriller movie I have ever liked. I even bought it!

I showed this movie (Contact by Carl Sagan) ad nauseum to students in my science class because it was a perfect Sci-fi thriller...and with a woman staring (along with good acting by Matthew McConaughey, James Woods, Tom Skerritt, William Fichtner, John Hurt, Angela Bassett and David Morse) it was a perfect movie...Even the intro to the movie is a mind blower...you travel away from earth....and as you speed up, the background of famous TV...then radio....gets older and older...until you end up over 100 LY away...and then the radio messages are quite old...and historic....I’ll see if I can find the intro...

Found it! Check this out...

Wanna take a ride? This is really advanced tech for ’97...

"Contact" is a good movie, but it's a great book. One of my favorites.

Will get that someday.

Let us start a Famous atheist gallery?

I have started a new group based on your suggestion. It should be active within 24 hours. I look forward to your input.

3

Well said. I had no idea she was a non-believer.

"The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane"...one of my favorite movies. Young teenage girl in jeopardy (the system and a pedifile played by Martin Sheen), takes care of the problem herself, does not need rescuing from a male.

3

I think she is super and have since she was a child actress....

3

Exactly! ❤

Loved that movie!!

Another famous Atheist is My Idol Bill Maher

I missed Maher’s early stuff but liked his religulous (sp?) and especially his New Rules segment.

Let’s start an Infamous Atheist gallery.
I nominate me. In my mid 40s I made myself infamous politically to landowners near Phoenix. I moved to SF and when my employed 30-ish kid brother said he might move there I replied, ”Change your last name. They know it there.”

I have started a new group based on your suggestion. It should be active within 24 hours. I look forward to your input.

Always liked her. Like her a little bit more now!!

Also...I love the way she handles a gun.

Yes indeed..

Theres a lot of famous celebrity atheists out there, FFRF has a calender of atheist celebrity birthdays in their calender in their freethought magazine, I always liked Jodie Fosters acting, I remember her as a child acting in the 1970's.

Religions are spread around the world originaly by force the winner or invader forced their religions onto their captured people.

people are brainwashed from birth into the dogma their parents have. I can not see why LBGT people so many are still beleiving in a system that condemns them. I never took to the brain washing. Once parent no longer took me to bed and forced the praying on me I stopped IT

A good actress and I respect her for her atheist beliefs but unfortunately she’s a gun control nut.

Unfortunately?

@Eazyduzzit Yes unfortunately. I’m very pro gun and a life member of the NRA. Unlike you liberals I value my right to own guns and I intend on keeping them no matter what the liberals idiots do.

@Trajan61 I don't care if you have guns, I just want them licensed, insured, bonded, and locked. I want gun owners to be required to take gun safety courses. And no one needs to own an automatic weapon. Those are true WMDs, no civilian needs one of those. I grew up around guns, my dad was a hunter and reloader. I've shot pistols, rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, and an M16A1 rifle. I had extensive training before I handled some of those. Yes, training was courtesy of Uncle Sam, I was active duty Army.

@HippieChick58 Automatic weapons are already illegal. What good is a self defense weapon if it’s locked away? You obviously don’t believe in the right to have a loaded weapon for self defense. I have no problems with guns being registered with a local gun dealer but I will never allow my guns to be registered into a federal database as that is the first step to confiscation. Why should we be required to have a license to have a gun as that right is protected by the 2nd amendment?

@Trajan61 I am 99.9 sure that nothing I say would ever change your mind and vice versa, I am going to end my part of this conversation, I don't have time for an exercise in futility.

@Trajan61 I was a member of the NRA at one time. When they started evolving into a lunatic "they're comin' after our guns" bunch of trouble makers, I left them. They've created more paranoia and problems in this country than any other organization.

@HippieChick58 You are exactly right about changing my mind as I’m a strong conservative and very pro 2nd amendment and gun rights pertaining to self defense and obviously you are not.

@Eazyduzzit If it weren’t for groups like the NRA we would have lost a lot of our rights pertaining to gun rights and self defense. Just look at what has happened in countries who don’t have powerful lobby groups like the NRA! They have all been stripped of their rights to carry a concealed handgun for self defense. I’ll take the NRA and our gun laws over most other countries any day.
