BREAKING NEWS: Dayton, OH. Two Senators react dfferently on how to solve the mass shootings and hate crimes in this country. Sherrod Brown, Democrat suggests bring the Senate back to vote on House Bill on background checks for guns.l. Rob Portman, GOP suggests its related to mental health, opioid crisis and suicide rates which has nothing to do with a possible, not yet proven hate crime. 6 of the 9 people murdered were black. Much more to come at 4:00 Press Conference!
Some form of background check law is, and has been, in place for quite some time. Your MOC voted "yes" on it....and many others. What they did NOT do, however, is vote any funding for these laws!
Asshat NRA bought and paid for Republicans. Do nothing, send thoughts and prayers!

My local city Sassy. Both those comments by our reps are valid, in my opinion. Dayton and the surrounding communities are experiencing an opioid crisis like we've never seen before. Lots of cartel/local gang shootouts. The site of the shooting is in an upscale inner city district which draws a very diverse crowd on weekend nights. Depending on the club/bar and evening's venue, the diversity if the crowd can change. We already require background checks for purchases through vendors. I'm supportive of background checks for private sales, but not sure if that's really enforceable.
Most guns in the possession of these local to Dayton shootings have been stolen and are purchased on the street.
Considering 6/9 people shot were black this could be a hate crime. El Paso definitely was. Time will tell. Motivation worries me-not mental health.
Portman is now, and has been for years an idiot and a hypocrite.
agreed-he made me angry listening to him.
