"Take man's most fantastic invention - God. Man invents God in the image of his longings, in the image of what he wants to be, then proceeds to imitate that image, vie with it, and strive to overcome it." - Eric Hoffer, author of The True Believer
"You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion." - L. Ron Hubbard (founder of the Church of Scientology founder of the Church of Scientology)
If we analyze these two concepts: Create a god, cause others to serve and be subjugated to this god, control the god you have created, then you will control those subjugated to your god.
Money is the god of this world. Money mimics omnipresence and omnipotence. With enough money your will can effectively be carried out in a number of places, at the same time, with great power, including murder, war, and genocide. Money counterfeits omniscience. With enough money you can rewrite history, change science, and control and sway the public in the direction you want them to go, predictably knowing what will be the outcome. Money has proselytizing powers. With enough money the greatest enemy can be converted to a loyal ally. Money encompasses, transcends, and overcomes barriers of race, gender, age, belief, and non-belief.
Money has far more power and substance than religion. Instead of the empty words of a god, money can heal, feed, clothe, protect, provide, and bring security to your future. It isn't strange that its ministers (cons, religions, politicians, governments, and corporations) worship it so fully. Their preaching is the propaganda seen in political ads and commercials, all trying to control your belief and gain your loyalty.
Money has creative power, corporations have now become people. Because they control the money, like priests, they write their own rules and deregulate themselves from laws that would constrain them, exempting themselves from any hardship and accountability. Like religion, money impels a kind of "faith", it creates a "lottery mentality", provoking people to have faith in the stock market, sweepstakes, lottery, casinos, scratch-offs, etc., most believing they are going to win someday. When the rich cause wealth to become stagnate it creates poverty and famine, it paralyzes the nation and the world. You can see why religion and superstition is pushed in our society, it creates gullibility and beclouds the mind to inevitably serve this higher power.
Trickle-down economics or Plantation economics:
The people, or slaves of the system, "force" the wealth into the hands of a small controlling group. Usually the people are debt-ridden or have no actual property. The top wealthy few decide what the people are given to survive on; forty acres and a mule, two acres and a chicken, or nothing at all. The people are forced to beg, hope, and have faith that the wealthy will give them something. Democracy is destroyed and the people have no real voice. In fear of losing their jobs, or the little they do have, they are easily kept under control.
Religious hierarchical systems:
The people, or slaves of the system, "force" control of their lives into the hands of a small controlling group. Usually the people are sin-conscious and have no actual self-esteem. The top holier few decide what the people are given to survive on, they make the moral decisions concerning life and death, and what is and isn't “sin”. The people are forced to beg, hope, and have faith that they will be given salvation. Freedom is destroyed and the people have no real voice. In fear of losing their salvation and going to hell, they are easily kept under control.
A democracy for and by the people:
The people, all deemed equal in the system, "force" those in power to be regulated and subject to the people. The people who helped build the country and the economy get a fair share of the wealth they helped to create. The people decide what is right and wrong for their society, using the wealth they produced for education, health, to feed, clothe, protect, provide, and bring security to their future. Freedom and self-esteem are inevitable, the people have a voice.
People murder daily, and parents allow their children to suffer and die unnecessarily, all because of their beliefs. Imagine the power if you could control what people believe. Cons, politicians, religions, governments, and corporations all desire to control your belief, because people will sacrifice everything to have its manifestation, even if it is imposed upon them and against their personal and common good.
Money is a measure. Just as, we use feet and centimeter for length, pints and litres for capacity etc. So we use money to measure life. If the shoemaker must spend eight hours of life making a pair of shoes, while the glove maker only takes four for a pair of gloves. Then the shoemaker expects, quite rightly, enough money to buy two pairs of gloves, for just one pair of shoes, and nobody will buy gloves if they do not feel that the "life enhancing" value, of gloves is not worth four hours of working life.
Yet that breaks down when the rich become involved, especially those who control the money and sell it as a product, because their hours, however little their talent or effort, can be worth thousands of normal hours.
And the reason for that is because, unlike all other measures which are legally regulated, money is not. If the tanner sells leather to the glover and the shoemaker, then the tanner uses the same ruler to measure it each time. Because if the tanner used a different inch or centimeter when selling the leather to different people, then there would be legal consequences, with fines and imprisonment perhaps. Yet money, which is used to measure the most vital of all things, is quite unregulated except by the near criminal elements who benefit most from its variability.
While the shoemaker and the glover, they are stuck with it, like it or not, because they need it so much to facilitate their own trade with each other.
Also, like destroying our planet just for the wealth, and not relenting even in crisis.
God and money share one thing in common, which is that neither really exist in the material world. Both are just mental constructs of humans, which only have value because you can persuade other people into believing in them. And that is why they both have great power, because something which does not materially exist has no limits, it can be changed by those who control it into anything they like, and used by those who do the persuading of others to do anything.
True. Capitalists even print "In God We Trust" on money (their god). Maybe it should read: "In THIS, god We Trust" or "In THIS GOD, We Trust".
That's all just true. I don't deny that, sir.
But "God" is its own word, as well. The word doesn't just mean money. For starters, the Godhead is infinitely complex because that's the nature of the Hoary Head. We know that the Hoary Head supercedes hermeneutics because hermeneutics doesn't illustrate without changing the source of the illustration.
If you hang up on "is" arguments, then you kind of miss the word.
True, just as the word "god" is its own word.
Words can have varying or nuanced meanings, for example the word "god":
"a superhuman being or spirit worshiped as having power over nature or human fortunes; a deity."
"an image, idol, animal, or other object worshiped as divine or symbolizing a god."
"a thing accorded the supreme importance appropriate to a god: don't make money your god."
If by Godhead you mean the Trinity, that is not complex it is absurd: Believing that there is only one God, and that Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is also God. Of the three, only one of them is called the Holy Spirit even though they were all spirits before Jesus impregnated his mother with himself through the Holy Spirit, making himself flesh, and that the Father is still a spirit but is distinguishable from the Holy Spirit even though they are all one spirit and person.
Thomas Jefferson also noted this: ""Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. Ideas must be distinct before reason can act upon them; and no man ever had a distinct idea of the trinity. It is the mere Abracadabra of the mountebanks calling themselves the priests of Jesus." - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Francis Adrian Van der Kemp, 30 July, 1816
Meh
Money only matters if you let it
Yes, and when you don't have enough, it always seems to matter.
@nogod4me
Only if you care
Your views are consumed with money being important
The Dalai Lama has said time and time again the happiest and most content people he sees during his travels are those with the least to lose.
Money is only important because we allow it.
It’s made up
It doesn’t really have any value.
It only exist for the same reasons god exists
Because people keep putting faith in it
It’s just paper with numbers on it.
,,,some of the points strike a chord.$can be used for good
or bad social constructs-its proven. And a certain %of humans will try to manipulate/control others. It benifits
all to keep humanity's improvement as the basis for free
thought, there by eliminating the "control aspect".
Thanks for the post,,,
"Man's most fantastic invention"?????? I say, just great before the "why" of things could be understood scientifically, now man's biggest foolishness.
A very challenging read. I'm never quite sure what you are meaning.
"A democracy for and by the people:".. doesn't work either. read "Animal Farm" by Orwell....
some pigs are more equal that other pigs..
A bleak world view that I don’t share.
Who do you know that doesn't need or use money?
@nogod4me Babies, toddlers, prison inmates, old folks in nursing homes, soldiers during a battle, sailors aboard ships, those confined to mental institutions. Some primitive tribes.
Money is an accounting system. Real wealth consists of goods and services and has to be produced or created.
Why do you ask?
@WilliamFleming Every one of the people you mentioned needs money to sustain them, it may not be theirs, but money is sustaining them, and in the soldiers case they are getting paid.
I don't think the babies are going to be bartering for diapers or food.
By the way, I asked: "Who do you know [meaning personally] that doesn't need or use money?"
@nogod4me There are the primitive tribes that I referenced but I haven’t personally met any of them. It doesn’t matter whether I know them personally. They demonstrate that people can live without a monetary system. People are not sustained by money. They are sustained by goods and services, produced either by themselves or by others and obtained through trade. Trade is trade whether a monetary system is used or not.
As an accounting system money is useful not only for trading but also for storing wealth as well as for lending and borrowing.
Some wily traders accumulate large amounts of credit in their monetary account. That has little effect on the population at large. Whether the figure is a million or a trillion, it’s only a figure.
@WilliamFleming Even these primitive tribes are affected by big money encroaching on to their lands. Many are now banding together, through legal means, in order to stop them.
I know you understand me and you are just feigning ignorance. It does not make you appear intelligent.
@nogod4me I do understand you and I disagree.
Money is a tool use by humans. God is a tool created by humans. Religion is a tool used to control other humans.
