For the record, it was 118F / 47.2C yesterday and 117F / 47.8C today. I am not enjoying this heat wave.

Jason, what do kids do in that brutal heat? I guess they don't have summer league baseball and such. I bet swimming pool water is even too hot for swimming

I can't even imagine what that must be like. I have been whining this week because it's gotten up to 87 twice where I live. I saw a meme a while back that said: "People are saying this has been the hottest July in the past 125 years, but I like to say this will be the coldest July for the next 125 years." It sucks just thinking about that. I might need to scoot up to a little higher elevation.
.

It's almost the inverse of deep winter in other places, we sorta hunker down in air conditioned spaces. and wait it out. my kids have recess indoors on obscenely hot days. it's really only 'bad' maybe 1 month of the year, then its tolerable, then its glorious for 9 months. pretty much shorts and t-shirts year round 😉

My wife and I lived in Mesa taking care of my father for 4 years until the alzheimer's finally took him. We're very happy to be back a couple of hours North and 4000ft higher in Prescott. Up here our house is super comfortable and doesn't even have AC.

You're welcome to keep Mesa. Lol.😊

Update. Today was one of our warmest days -- 95° high.

Just heard on PBS that this past July was the hottest ever for the world on recorded history.

We have had those temperatures in recent summers in Victoria Australia where the highs are normally around 38-40.

Is this unusual for you guys as well?

not terribly unusual, but we usually have rains occasionally to make up for it, but not this year.

2

Aw Jeez, we get temps like that for days on end out here in Outback Australia in summer.

Average summer temps here range from low 30's C to early- mid 40's C often for 4 -10 days or more at a time.

I would not survive. Minnesota winters are brutal, but you can always put on more clothes.

I lived in MN for a couple years, there is a lot of parallels between deep winter there and deep summer here..

Winter is my favorite season next to fall!
Love me some cold weather.

I spent 6 years in the twin cities - the last winter there had 90 consecutive days below freezing.
I couldn’t stand the summers- too hot, humid a d full of mosquitoes!

Only. 100 here with a heat value of 107!

Why live somewhere you can't go outside for half the year?

Dual custody. for the most part 😉 ill rethink in 10 years.

@JasonTomerlin2 Sorry to hear that. Good luck.

Here in the archipelago few have AC or even need it. This summer has been cooler than normal - 60's and 70's. Right now it's finally starting to warm up to the high 70's. To us that's hot.

We can always tell those from Arizona. They are the ones wearing coats when the rest of us are in shorts and T-shirts.

My father lives in Port Angeles - I’ve never been too hot there🙂

That’s awful. In northern Kentucky it’s been the nicest August of my life so far. It’s usually oppressively hot and humid right now, but it’s been very pleasant.

It is those Chinese pushing their climate change hoax. Don't give in.

Yes! Those pesky wealthy and their corporations pushing cooling hoaxs verus hot temperatures as man climate change!

Nothing to worry about if you are dead!

I'm so sorry for you. I hate the heat as well

I can't imagine. We played in Mesa when it was 112 with twenty something percent humidity and it was horrible. I remember walking out of the bar around midnight to get some fresh air and the bank sign across the street said 101.

AC runs 24hours a day for a few months.

@JasonTomerlin2 That is way too hot. We have been in the 104/105 range for over a week, and they are expecting another week of this. With 40 or 50% humidity it is even worse. Keep cool.

@Sticks48 We did not get any cool haboobs this year, its depressing.

@JasonTomerlin2 WOW! What a photo!

@Sticks48 i wish it was mine, but google haboob videos they are great, sucks to be on the freeway when one hits, but they are awesome.

This is a good one [vimeo.com]

@JasonTomerlin2 I out ran one in West Texas once. It was amazing.

My significant other.

At least it is not humid there, like here in Florida.
