I love the intelligent, funny, insightful and kind members. It's not a waste of time.

Yup, I come here to waste time. For others it may be different, though.

Probably not, and even if so it is my time to waste. I love what I do but it might bore you to tears.

I hope not. We must always be open to challenge of our mindset, both by others and by ourselves, to be anything else is to have a closed mind. It is never wrong to say you have changed your mind on a subject.

We can get the context here:

Thanks for researching the data.

"Without doubt ..... really, Herr Popper? Philosophers give me a headache.
...

I agree too , but popper was more of a scientist which I support and I hope you too. How do we make science equal to philosophy ?? . It is not going to go away.

@Mcflewster I could have been a scientist but I had to earn money, so I became an engineer. Optics. Worked for Xerox, the copy machine company. All my life, philosophers have given me a headache. While i had my arms full of babies and books, while peeling potatoes for dinner. my philosoppher friends were discussing esoteric yet completely useless subjects. Grrrh!

@Spinliesel I’m with you there!

I hate the expression “without doubt” too! I never trust anyone who says that,

@Mcflewster
Why drag science down into the gutter?

@Spinliesel I think engineers [and everyone else] are scientists. You have obviously been solving problems all your life. It does need science and scientists to actually get things done. I think of philosophers are 'Sounding boards'.

@Haemish1 Can you please explain how I dragged science into the gutter. My message was catch people who have entered the site for the first time and reaffirm our moral credentials.

@Mcflewster
I viewed your question “how do we make science equal to philosophy?”, as an implication that philosophy was superior to science. In my opinion the reverse is more accurate.
Does philosophy affirm any real morality?
Ayn Rand was a proponent of the philosophy of Objectivism, which I see as being amoral.

@Haemish1 equal and superior in the same passage do not fit.
