Effort seems meaningless and egotistical at best.

You try and you try & then you die.

If you succeed in life, you get to say,
"ME!" "ME!" "ME!"
...but you STILL die...

So, what difference did any of the effort make?

Effort for what though? For yourself? Or for others? I mean if nobody made any effort for women, for POC, for the LGTBQ+, for child labourers/slaves in society you and I would not even be able to be making these posts here. We would be popping out babies like brood mares for our husbands since we got our periods... I STRONGLY disagree that making any effort has no lasting effects... tell that to Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Ella Baker, Viola Desmond, Margaret Sanger, Margaret Fuller, etc. etc.

So what difference did their efforts make? Look in to the history of what rights women and POC and LGTBQ+ have gained in the USA over the last 100 years or more and tell me.

Its a good point, but in the end of all that effort, we're still unhappy, fighting and about to destroy the planet.
All that struggle for basic human rights...was the effort even worth it when we still refuse to unify and let go of old programming?
What difference did all that fighting make when the Amazon forest is still burning...about to destoy any chance for our children to live a normal life?

@FinchiMcQueen There are different fights that can be done consecutively.... that was a fight for human rights and alongside that we can have a fight for environmental protections; such as is done by groups like Greenpeace, the UN, and the G7 is fighting for now as well as other local initiatives from ocean cleaning to tree planting worldwide. Have you heard of what a south american country did? Even when the stubborn ass brazilian prez was refusing aide they sent planes to dump water on the fire.... were it not for public pressures and public outcry and people just sitting by watching it burn nothing would be done... check it out: [cbc.ca]

Everything in society costs, it has a value. Even the smoking of weed and making of art. You need basic shelter, heat, water, food, clothing, health and sanitation. Can't be too stoned to look after babies, they will die.
What if there is no weed to smoke? Someone needs to grow it. Then how do you make art without effort to produce or acquire artistic mediums?
What do you eat when the munchies hit and no one has cultivated food?
Read some C. Wright Mills. Then learn about why and what makes society work. Put some effort in, when enough effort is done, then chill, but give up the smoking, it is a painful and stupid way to shorten your life.

See me, student of sociology I am!

Thank you for your eloquent reply.
Looking for feedback after listening to a few philosophy lectures by Eckhart Tolle..📚
...a spiritual teacher....VERY anti-ego.
Perhaps I'm still searching for my own delicate balance..
I'm sure everyone has different goals in mind that can add to any successful society.
(Look at Pew-Die-Pie..😂)
Anyway, thanks again..😊

@FinchiMcQueen Not a bother, I enjoy conversation.

When working people are expected to fund the lifestyle of the indolent .. you end up with Why Bother'

Hmm...

Good luck making a living with that approach.

Case in point, the rich elite are doing it right at this moment...sitting on their powdered asses while someone else does the work.

Who do you think does more labor for their buck..the rich or the poor?

(🃏Your move...)

@FinchiMcQueen So Step 1: Get rich?

@jerry99 I'm sure having a rich mindset has a lot to do with it.
Something I'm sure we all wish to obtain.
Havent you seen those poor people win the PowerBall and go back to being poor in a matter of a year?
Based on those averages, I'm sure there's a different way of 'being' that needs to be established in order to maintain an certain aura of abundance.

Oh dear.

I think that's what a lot of very young people are saying...

They have the parental ATM, so why not?

Likely this parental ATM has been out of service for some time.🙄

I left home when I was 15 😬 soooooooo

You may be referring to those princes in Dubai, who also don't do anything to gain the immense wealth bestowed upon them.

What I mean.. is to create a certain status in your material world by becoming that in your internal world..
Do you get me?

Sounds like a plan....
