In your opinion (yeah, i know I'm opening a can of worms here) why do you think that integrity and personal responsibility have all but disappeared? My co-work put in her 2 week notice - 10 days ago - and only told me today when she was going out the door. Her last day should have been this wednesday but she left today before lunch time. So
#1 she didn't bother to give me a heads up that she was leaving and i will have to pick up her slack.
#2 she left half way through the busiest day of the week.
#3 she's not fulfilling her 2 week notice and
#4 there is a ton of unfinished things in her mailbox that i will not only have to finish, but I'll have to try to figure out HOW or WHY they need done. I have no clue what she's been working on. Wtf? Not only all this but we work the front desk / admin office of a retirement home. We are the first contact - and do a lot of the paperwork - for HR. We know if you don't work out your notice you lose your pto and are ineligible for rehire. and I know she didn't tell residents (believe me, she didn't tell them the gossip spreads like wildfire) which is weird because she is really close to some of them. She only told me she was quitting as she went out the door with her purse in hand! My point is, where has integrity gone and how are we able to trust people at their word anymore?
Ive been in situations where my co worker had a medical problem that they simply didnt want to discuss, but werent comfortable lying for two weeks. Ive also had management instruct the worker not to tell anyone... they seem to think the other workers mught lose their focus? Who knows
Considering companies today have no integrity or sense of responsibility to thier workers it's no surprise workers have none for the company.
Gossip spreads like wildfire there, apparently, so maybe she didn't want people talking about her while she was there? Just guessing.
This is only one person in one situation. Not sure it’s pertinent to lay the whole argument at the feet of one person!
@SweetHarp okay. Not my experience, however.
Question is have integrity and personal responsibility ever been widespread traits workers held? Or has this always been an issue but you have been surrounded or surrounded yourself with people with high integrity and personal responsibility your entire life?
