Saw this on a guy’s shirt at my gym:

“Pain is weakness leaving your body”. I thought that was a great description.

Another similar one that I love from Khalil Gibran is:

“Suffering is the braking of the shell that encloses your understanding”.

Go out there and make it a great one everybody!

Sorry. Didn’t realize the quote would be taken this way and an explanation would be needed. But I will give it a shot.

Of course you need to listen to your body if you are overdoing it. Any experienced lifter or fitness enthusiast knows this. The quote to me means that while a certain level of pain accompanies any lifting routine that builds muscle it’s worth it. Any time you are tearing down muscle there will always be some pain that will present itself. But the whole process of tearing down muscle builds muscle during the healing and recovery.

I knew what you meant... Similar to "No Pain No Gain"... or... "That which does not kill you makes you stronger."

There is always some truth in all of these! 😉

So what do you want us to do - go cause pain for someone and make them suffer?

Jezus, man, where's your heart?

Khalil Gibran could say that... He died when he was 48... Before the onset of arthritis. I was bulletproof that that age also!

The quote evidently doesn’t resonate with you as it does me. It has proven to be true for me. Most times when I have maneuvered through a struggle or mental suffering I have come out the other side just a bit wiser. Thus I am able to use that experience to offer what I learned to hopefully assist others.

@Truthseeker1968 Honestly... It was said tongue-in-cheek! 😉

@RiverRick Ahhh. Emotion lost in the written word.

Pain is a warning you are damaging your body. A child in the first grade knows this.

Pain could also be your body telling you that you are overdoing the exercise, and starting to cause damage. Remember when the 'burn' was made fashionable by a film star guru of the gym, until the medical establishment shot the idea to blazes.
