@ReadyforaChange I had the misfortune of sitting on a jury this summer in a child molestation case. It was a stepfather against his stepdaughter, and the main evidence was her testimony--which was absolutely devastating (she was 15 by this point but the abuse had gone back 6 years...to the day he was babysitting his stepchildren at home as his first child was being born in the hospital--that's how a date was put on the first crime...it was her half sibling's birthday). There were only two people on the jury who were holdouts, reluctant to vote guilty.

One was a 25 year old guy who claimed we were being biased against the defendant. His thinking was messy and all over the place, he kept claiming he knew what was in the heads of the lawyers and those in the gallery, he claimed the mother's testimony of the chaotic/abusive household was just to cover her abuse of her husband (the defendant), he didn't know we had to be unanimous in a criminal trial, he didn't know what reasonable doubt was, and he said he believed the girl "100%, everything she said", but refused to vote guilty on 3 of the six counts (some of which HAD to be committed to do the other 3).

The other holdout was a middle aged woman who was also not very bright. She kept saying that if it was her son or husband on trial, she would want more evidence. She also said she had no way to tell if her children ever lied to her, she went around the jury asking each of us why we were voting guilty so she could get a better understanding...and by the time she got to all of us she started over with the first person because she had forgotten that person already talked. (She sat next to me in the jury box, and took no notes. My impression sitting next to her was that she was mostly confused/lost.) It also annoyed me that she kept saying, "If it was my son or husband on trial," because I am a man, and there were a variety of other men on the jury, all voting guilty except the one. It was as if she was completely unaware that WE were men, we were AWARE we were men, and WE were voting guilty.

Anyway, we finally convinced those two to vote for 3 of the 6 charges. The 25 year old guy mistakenly thought some of those chargers were less severe because they only involved touching. I knew that was not the case, but in the jury room, the instructions do not include the classification of the crimes or the possible sentences. We were only there to determine guilt. I emailed the prosecutor after the trial, and learned he got 17.5 years. It should have been longer, but I felt better. (I also discovered he had a long criminal record, gang involvement, had been in jail for at least a year before the trial for other things, and was the most wanted criminal in my state in 2017.)

No, Death is way, way TOO quick and easy for low-life, bottom-feeding scum like that imho.
Set up the island of Bikini Atoll ( old Nuclear Testing Site) as an open prison for them, regularly chum the waters to keep the sharks hanging around, give them each a tin cup, a spoon and a butter knife, air-drop ONLY the very basic essentials of life to them ONCE per month, IF the radiation does get them then trying to swim and escape the sharks will. Either way, they'll end up dying a long and slow, painful death that they richly deserve.
