Well, I'm finally in the process of leaving Shawn ! He was drunk and pissed off at me and he gave me 30 days to get out ! No problem, as I was offered a place to go in Maryland by someone on here, so I have been moving every day I have off of work, loading up my car and driving down here. I'm here in MD tonight, but going back to PA in the AM because tomorrow is my birthday and Shawn is taking me out for my birthday !

Alcoholics are the worst. I also found people in recovery could sometimes be as bad. Good luck to you wishing you the best.

Everyone is different. A former partner was a 'maintenance' drinker and not too bad (there were periods however). She went through detox and for 5 years it was great. She was empathetic, smart and loving. As soon as she relapsed in came Mr. Hyde.
Out of the frying pan into the fire? "Offered a place by someone on here"? Who knows you are desperate? I would live in a camper first......
Best wishes, but maybe a bit of independence would be better.....
