Good news and bad news! My hubby sort-of sees my side about the Bible and God not being a good example of truth and morality. The bad news, my dad is still not seeing the heinous acts of the god of the Bible. This kind of thinking is extremely harmful to people because it justifies genocide and mass murder and other atrocious acts in the name of God, and people can't reason for themselves if something is good or not.

Just tell them you fell it is a private thing & you prefer not to discuss it. Then firmly change the subject as many times as you need to...they will soon give up. Why you told them anything at all remains a mystery to me....your business, only.

My reaction to him was in response to his talking about how accumulating riches is sinful and about how the rich man went to hell and Lazarus went to Abraham's bosom, or heaven. I told him there's nothing wrong to having money and that it's useful. But for some reason, his statement got to me. :/

@Biblebeltskeptic that is how they accumulate Huge amounts of followers, telling them their troubles here will be "fixed"/rewarded in "heaven"

Your journey on this will be slow and tedious. You cannot force them to see it your way but you can openly discuss and the focus should be your immediate household. Do not do this in anger or allow anger in responses. Use logic.

Yes, calmness is key.

I decided what kind of human being I wanted to be and did not insist how others such as wife, siblings should think. I was careful about the child so I insisted she should grow up as a free thinker first.

We should tolerate how others close to us think.
