Today I heard from a very religious family member that you are very miserable and have no reason to live without the Christian god. Why? The Bible tells her so. Essentially, our emotions are invalid, because an old and revered book says so.
Are you miserable?
Very. I don't know what I was thinking!! Lol
@Biblebeltskeptic snap out of it!
I always laugh really hard in the faces of people who say that kind
of bullshit to me.
It's usually the last time they do it.
I share that response when confronted with such overwhelmingly deep level of stupidity.
Laughter IS THE BEST MEDICINE for the disease of faiths
Don't let them fool you. The vast majority of believers are projecting their own misery onto the rest of us.
Strange. Ever since leaving god I been happier than ever. Also the Bible is not a psychology book. Reading it did little to make me feel better.
They believe this sort of thing but it is totally ridiculous. This is almost as bad as a believer finding out you are atheist and then asking "who do you worship?" In my active church years I never found proof that they really worshiped anything. It's just another club and you can brag about events that the invisible man helped you get through. This is almost like a headache remedy. A couple of pills are OK for me but Suzie has to take 6 of them.
A long time ago a Billy Joel song said "I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun". He's so right. Most religions consider anything fun is a sin and is to be avoided at all costs. Go out and party your butt off and send her pictures of all the fun and joy on everybody's faces.
It's funny how they say it's not about emotions. And yet they darn-well know they most likely will not take anything you say into consideration, because they're afraid to go to hell simply because they don't believe. It's not about emotions... Except when it is.
Also, for a group of people that "can't live by what they feel," they tend to do lot of appealing to emotion. I'm sure a lot of them mean well, and aren't trying to be manipulative, but they have blind spots. I think it's caused mainly by religious damage in how they are indoctrinated to presuppose God, his goodness, and that fear of him will keep us on the "straight and narrow."
I have an aunt in Kentucky who says the same thing...of course she also thinks Twittler is the chosen one so there you go.
do these looney females really want their pussies grabbed by TrumpOLINI?
@GreenAtheist Her kind would likely be honored. She would never wash it again! (ick)
@ReadyforaChange part of the insane xian brainwashing which instantly forgives perpetrators before the trial and conviction....impeachment and removal from office could happen now if Giuliani clients are not convicted....maybe they will die/disappear like Epstein ??? When voices are silent the guilty go free
I watch a lot of debates on YouTube and it is really surprising the number of Christians say “your not really an atheist”. I wonder if that is related to your very common experience, When they see we actually are happy they have to tell themselves we must really believe. I’ve experienced in my own youth my Mother saying that my atheist aunt was “just trying to get attention” and that she was “just trying to get back at” my grandparents. The power of cognitive dissonance..........
The xians who attack Atheists deserve zero respect
The original bible contradicts with a Christian god. The bible used to document that Jesus was the bastard of Julius Abdes Tiberius. Jesus was executed because of dishonesty. Jesus father was archer to kill humans. Jesus killed Zeno and most likely Judas. Religious opinions and laws in the bible are history. To improve mankind, knowledge and common sense is needed rather than believing in the ideas of leaders.
The disgusting stabbings and common tortures of empires and fanatic faiths are not proofs of bible bullshit but are mere braggings and threats towards weak believers amidst the cults
It's so heartbreaking that people were absolutely miserable for most of human history. The poor, poor Asians! And almost all of Africa! And I can't bear to think how there wasn't a shred of happiness to be found among the indigenous people of the Americas until Europe brought Jesus on the tip of a sword to them. Oh, the humanity!
If you have the energy / time for it, sometimes, when I've been asked that, I reply with, "why Christianity, and not Islam? Surely muslims feel the same way about their faith, and believe Christians are also incorrect with their faith as well."
Chances are they may answer in some roundabout/generic evasive way; "... because god revealed this to me to be true." and again, you can say that other religions say the same.
It can get quite circular in discussion, to which won't be productive, however, they might see how their answers are predictable, and hold little meaning from the outside.
It's all about control, religion is, I can live a happy and morel life, just as much as a religious person, and even better without invisible gods, fairy tales, now mankind can advance with science and the world can progress, and not be slowed down by religious dogma
I wouldnt share any personal insights with them. You don't need their negative energy.
Christians oft times state that "... the Bible has been totally inspired by the God through the Holy Spirit, this now makes all of the Bible totally infallible and inerrant ..." . To that I say, where are all the Witches and Demons and the Unicorns (unicorns mentioned five times in the Bible)? When they respond that "Unicorns" had to be some other animal (like a rhinoceros), I tell them "No, that is not possible because there are no mistakes in the Bible and the only rhinoceros that the Bible writers would have known about (White and Black rhinoceros) both with two horns, not one. There is a one-horn rhinoceros, but it lives in India and South East Asia and is reclusive...certainly not the fearsome "unicorn", described in the Bible. The only "witch" I have ever encountered, is an ex-wife, not the biblical entity. So much for what the Bible says.
