"In Spain, the process to exhume the remains of the dictator Francisco Franco from the basilica at the site known as the Valley of the Fallen concluded today. It brought to an end an anomaly that had persisted for 44 years – because in principle, a democracy cannot honour a dictatorship. Until now, Franco had been interred in a mausoleum of gigantic proportions, located in the mountains to the north of Madrid, at an altitude of 1,400 metres and crowned by a 150-metre-high cross that can be seen for miles."
"From now on, his remains will lie in the family tomb of an ordinary cemetery, with no flag or honours of any kind."
Better late...right? But--the same thing's true with Chairman Mao, whose embalmed (downright creepy-looking) remains are honored by hundreds of people every day in Beijing. And Lenin's on display in the Kremlin. (He doesn't look so good, either.)
The dead usually don't lol so good, I n the other hand will look Faaabulose darling..
@Charlene Well--of COURSE! But, let's hope it's DECADES before we find out, ok?
@LucyLoohoo well my granny was 92, and my aunt was 98 so there's a good chance I'll be around a few more decades..
@Charlene And my Aunt Helen was 105...we can be crazy old ladies together!
@LucyLoohoo ain't we already though?
@Charlene I'd prefer to call it amusingly mature.
@LucyLoohoo that works!!!!
Nowhere near an ignominious enough fate for someone who brought in the Luftwaffe to bomb his own people and was then feted his whole life for it.
