This is an amazing confrontation. Christopher Hitchens, and Stephen Fry, against the very ignorant representatives of the catholic church.

These are two of the best ever of Hitchens’ tirades. He is considered one of the most supreme orators of the past 50 years.

This is a unique moment where Hitch actually gets emotional and raises his voice. It's historic as far as I'm concerned. He spoke in real time with a higher level of sophistication and eloquence than most authors write with. I was always blown away at how he could tear someone's argument a new one with such a soft voice and often comedically. That was his brand. And that's why this is so special. Plus, he was sticking up for his friend, Stephen Fry. I would have loved to give him a hug before he passed.

Well, since Fry is Jewish, it isn't surprising that he is anti-catholic. Personally, I feel that people can believe what they want, and they don't need others to tell them what to believe, cor disbelieve
Most people are intelligent enough to be able to work it out for themselves.

@ToolGuy He stated on a British TV programme that he was Jewish, whilst stating the I congruity of the fact that he loved Wagner.
So, unless you know better than Fry himself, I will stick to what he claimed he was.

Jewish by genetics does not in any way determine a person's opinions after education.

@ToolGuy In that case, he either cannot make up his mind, or he changes it to fit the narrative that best suits his circumstances. I find it odd why, given his atheistic stance, why he has ever bothered to mention it in the first place. It's not uknown in 'famous' people.
Frankly, I gave u reading his autobiography, after his second book. because, he cam across as too precious, self-pitying and something of a whiner.

@ToolGuy Well let's leave it at that, as this isn't going to go anywhere. There isn't anything going on at a sub-conscious level; I've been given large amounts of training in unconscious bias, amd every -ism under the sun, so your pondering upon what you think may be going on hasn't any sub-conscious basis, amy more than your comment suggests anything other than what it purports to be.

@ToolGuy He isn't being singled-out. - there wasn't a long list of names to choose from. I have no need to justify myself to you, so I am not going to waste time justifying a mere comment.
If you want to varry on with your agenda, thenfeel free - I won't be listening to you

Hitchens and Fry truly handed the catholics, etc, their arses on plate with that one, loved every second of it.

If there is a god his name is Christopher Hitchens.

@SanDiegoAirport Won’t be easy. But these videos help.

I have seen this and, though their names escape me, the woman did a fair job, but, yes, the priest was absolutely terrible. Completely unprepared.

Whenever I need to recall that No, I actually cannot write worth a damn and am, and shall remain a hack, I read Hitch.

Some of his explorations are way beyond understanding. Obscure, and clear, references, so mixed that they require side research to even have a clue. yet.... i have listened to many hours of him speaking during the past 3 years. And am amazed at every hearing.

I loved his way of directly challenging the powers that proclaim divine knowledge and insight by damning them with their own words and actions
