If there's a life after this one, then what's the point of this one?
Seems redundant, to say the least.
It is comforting to think there is a life after death....but for sure there is nothing after death.
5 For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten. 6 Indeed their love, their hate and their zeal have already perished, and they will no longer have a share in all that is done under the sun. [Eccl chapter 9]
Funny how these diamonds are found in the rough, all over that work of fiction.
It is my contention that Christianity touts the Bible but is not true to what the Bible actually says. But of course it is all fiction.@gardenRobot
Another word that needs to either have a new definition or eliminated.
She speaks for me! This life is all we have, and we need to cherish and enjoy every minute of it while we live.
A beautiful sentiment that highlights the true wonder of life and the importance of valuing every moment
I do not find the idea of worshiping anything for all eternity appealing in the least.
@Donotbelieve Damn! Very well said.
If you experienced a natural and spontaneous welling up of awe, gratitude, appreciation and reverence, then the idea of worshipping something forever would not be so repulsive.
What is repulsive is the prospect of being expected to behave in a worshipful manner and having to pretend.
@WilliamFleming Any experience, be it a natural and spontaneous welling up of awe, gratitude, appreciation and reverence or literally anything else would run out its welcome in a fairly short period of time, much less eternity. At that point it would be unappealing to me.
Heaven, by most descriptions I’ve read, sounds a lot like North Korea.
@Cognoscente Yes. Hitchens referred to it as a North Korean theme park.
Don't dare make me live forever! You won't like me the second time around!
@Donotbelieve Waaaaaaa!!!! No one likes me........
I don’t think there’s a soul, but I think that conscious awareness itself is immortal because time is a creation of consciousness.
The sense of self as an individual body is just an illusion. It was never there to begin with.
Exactly how I feel! I had a V-fib almost two years ago, was technically dead for 10 seconds. People ask me if I saw the white light . I saw what I see every night when I fall asleep and before my stupid dreams start: nothing.
I was in a coma for four days. A christian asked me what I saw.
I told him, "I didn't see anything, but the first thing I heard was the doctors nurse asking how I would like to be billed".
@Donotbelieve I so glad you're better after you died.......
