I like to consider myself fairly up to date on things, events, etc. But i learned all about Geography, countries, their names, locations, gross agricultural output and so on in grade school & high school.
And then everybody started playing musical chairs with names, borders, who/what is running things, (no agricultural output anymore either because: "war zone" ).
So, i am geographically challenged, have been for decades.
Just STOP! Could the people in whatever region just be allowed to live their lives unmolested? Asking for a friend......
What got me is the amount of discoveries in one of my favorite interests--Neolithic Europe. And plate tectonics! So much new information, and all after I left school.
In 6th grade there was a school wide "geography, social studies, world knowledge" test. The prize was the large globe in the geography room. This was in L.A. in an AA sized school (3,000) students. There were 4 who scored 100%. The follow up test left 1 standing with 100%. I took the globe home and was disappointed that it showed Germany with East Prussia (was a pre-WW II) globe which was 20 years out of date.
Regional wars are just proxy wars so that other countries can keep their armament factories running and force their ideology into more locations.
