Considering this is Agnostic.com , why are so many posts dealing with God or religion ?
Many of the members are new to this level of freedom. Hence the many questions and observations repeated, ad nauseam. Yet, It behooves us to not just tolerate these youngsters, but to answer the most basic of questions, as often as is needed.
There are members still encased in societal restrictions without a sense they will ever escape. This place becomes a refuge.
Not believing provides no immediate answers to all the big questions. And since we are all surrounded by the mental model of being sheep, and the complete blackness represented by islam, we need to provide each other all the support and fortitude possible for the world war as it comes our way, supported by all those who profess equality for women, and free speech for all, yet demand we do not oppose such evil other than christianity.
So, support all who seek to understand that which they are trying to flee from.
I agree we should not pretend the gibberish sounds gawd gott gods are real words..... Thor is an alleged deity causing thunder and lightning.....how many people today speak as if Thor exists ? geebush jeehobah ghostholes sounds stupid IS STUPID
The site and its members have a need to explain themselves to new members and others.
Not everyone will have escaped the same distance from religion and its culture. If you have climbed out of the cesspit of ignorance, on to the green open levels of reason, there will still be people behind you on the ladder trying to climb out. You can waltz of selfishly, it is your right, or you can turn round and offer a helping hand. Though yes, that will mean that you have to look back into the pit again. But its your choice, and if you wish to, you can spend your time in the groups, they need more input, and ignore the front pages altogether.
Splitting hairs is bad for cohesion. No need for tribal impulses.
The difference is not a priority. We are dealing with invisible man in the sky.
Because religion is a topic that is closely related to atheism and agnosticism. It's much like how a forum devoted to, for example, veganism would have lots of posts about why vegans don't eat meat or a website about environmentally-friendly methods of personal transport would have lots of posts about the issues arising from personal ownership of cars.
That is a brilliant question. I frequently wonder the same thing!
Thank you !
Lot of "think they're so smart" types trying to get us to fall to our knees & sing hosannas......
From my experience, there are as many Atheist on this site as agnostic. On other more Atheist forums their most dominated topics is about Religion. I am not nearly obsessive about Religion as they are.
It's like being homophobic about gays as Atheist are against Religion, except gays are natural and far less of them.
Yet, I'm with Atheist in most part that over dominate groups or over Centrolized groups becomes more harmful than good for the majority of the people.
