I'm down with some of this. No victim = no crime, addicts need treatment not punishment, bombing abroad is stupid, that's all great stuff. I take issue with the whole no one should be taxed and we should all rely on ourselves and the kindness of each other. A world without taxation and social programs to lift the less fortunate is inevitably a world of deep inequality and poor outcomes for most.
@Bushshaker Well I can certainly agree with you there, a third party is of massive importance.
I assumed, keep what you earn, means the government does not tax you. So what's the libertarian stance on tax?
@RoboGraham income tax is an unreliable source of revenue. The higher the unemployment rate, the lower the tax revenue.
@RobertMartin Same with sales tax. Fewer people working means fewer people have money to spend, fewer sales, less tax revenue coming in.
@Bushshaker You think it's a good idea to do away with corporate income tax and estate tax?
Looking around for examples of people actually helping eachother in any meanjngful way, beyond family/inheritance
Magical thinking.
A charity once flew me on a private plane to Boston when I was broke and in need of major surgery.
@RoboGraham let it be sung
I use to identify as Libertarian but couldn't work around the whole 'open boarder' issue.
For believing that people will help each other without being forced too
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
<snort> <chortle> <guffaw>
wipes tears from eyes
Have you ever met people?
People do it all the time.. that cynicism is rather sad..
@Captain_Feelgood it's called reality. Lots and lots of people just plain suck. Your fantasy is what's depressing, actually.
Yes, some of us want to help others but think everyone should shoulder the burden - not just us - and realize that some people need to be forced to, and are willing to take the hit for it.
Jezus, man, it's the season so might I sugest you read (or watch) A Christmas Tale by Dickens with the perspective that some people need to be terrified with eternal torture to help others.
@Captain_Feelgood People certainly are willing to help each other. But the amount of help needed far exceeds the amount that people are willing to give out of the kindness of their hearts. And there are massive disparages in who we are willing to lend a hand to. Most of us are naturally inclined to help cute innocent little children in need while elderly suffering seniors are largely ignored.
@Bushshaker Why do people seem to think my handle is a math problem?
Nice pivot, but pure sales tax is regressive, unfair, and excaberates the issue your describing instead of alleviates it.
But that's to be expected considering the level of math skills you displayed.
@Bushshaker oh for fucks sake. You can't even do simple math, WHY IN THE FUCK SHOULD I GIVE ANY OF YOUR OTHER ANALYSYS EVEN THE SLIGHTEST CREDENCE?
The answer is .2, or 1/5.
The question libertarians just can't answer
If your approach is so great, why hasn’t any country anywhere in the world ever tried it?
Hasn't Somalia been trying if for around a decade?
@1of5 . . . anarchy is not libertarianism
@FearlessFly Liberty Nation is a trusted source for Conservative news with original commentary.
No thanks for the slant
@1of5 It is hard not to notice that you (or others) have not provided credible evidence of an actual libertarian government.
@FearlessFly I don't want one. Why can't the libertarians show us one that's actually working?
