I wonder how many Americans have even heard of this incident.

I've been aware of it since before the flight from the UK, I never expected the US to allow prosecution, but was surprised when Trump got personally involved.

I read about it, but figured nothing would be done from this side until 45 is out of office, so it's a bit of a waiting game. I thought his "game show" trick when the family visited was outrageous.

I do remember hearing about it. She needs to be responsible for her actions. I'm tired of rich, privileged people getting away with their crimes.

It was in the news alot here when it happened. Ive never been OK with prosecuting car accidents like murders myself.

Did you hear how Trump put the parents on TV by surprise and had them meet the driver like a trashy game show. It was very awkward and distasteful.

She isn't accused of Murder, but of Causing a Death by Dangerous Driving. A lesser offence, but still not one you should be able to run away from.

@JoeB I'm assuming you mean shouldn't. I'm alot more offended by all the people harming and killing people through intentional actions or for profit. I realize the accusations. I know of people going to prison for long time over car accidents. I don't approve.

Shouldn't yes. Possibly I'm biassed on this. When I was a teenager my best friend throgh high school went out with his girlfriend, sister, and sister's husband for a meal. Having had a drink, they called a taxi to take them home. Unfortunatelly the taxi driver had had a drink too. My friend ended up in a persistant vegative state, his girlfriend, sister and brother-in-law were killed. The taxi driver walked away, and because at that time the UK didn't have a specific offence of Causing Death by Dangerous Driving, was given a small fine and a two year driving ban.

I've no idea what happened in this case but whether-or-not somebody stands trial for something should never be determined by their background, race, religion, occupation, or husband's occupation.

@JoeB I get it and that is sad about your friend. I come from the US where we want to blame and lock up everyone it seems. In general I think jails should be for people who are an active danger trying to harm people not people who did things by accident.

Ultimately though, the question isn't about how the case is dealt with, but whether it's OK that she was enabled to flee justice because of her husband's occupation, where another American citizen would not hae been. Are you OK with that?

@JoeB Honestly to me the story has seemed like a partisan mob that is more about standing with party and disliking American superiority than the victim or the driver.

I fall on that side politically but don't stand behind persecuting one individual who didn't intend harm because of it.

A lot of the public anger in the UK was caused by our politicians intervening to make sure she didn't face prosecution. That isn't what they're elected for.

I heard it on the radio a few weeks ago. Diplomatic immunity, my ass! She should definitely be sent to the UK to face her punishment.

I’ve seen it on Yahoo News several times.

It’s a sad event. A courageous step would be for the lady to return voluntarily and accept her fate.

I had not heard of it. Quite sad, I hope she has to go back and face the consequences.

45 told Britain he wouldn't agree to her extradition. 😢
