Loss. I have lost so many relatives, family, friends and colleagues to the hate of donald trump that I am mourning. Many of these relationships were superficial and the loss is minor or insignificant. Several are 25 year professional relaationships of great respect . It is truly a tragedy for me.

Maybe humans will devolve into distinct species. We have the sapiens, the thinking. What would we name the trumpian subspecies? Homo trumpist?

Trumpus lame-brain

Anyone who still supports that asshole is automatically an idiot and the supporter of a criminal in my book . After I lose respect for someone , I am done .
End of next month I will visit a dear friend in Tampa who I know she still supports that asshole . I have already made clear that no politics talk . Or is gonna be another 3 yrs b4 she sees my face . Distance helps .

@pralina1 how did that visit go?

@Bigwavedave going down to Tampa bay the 23d of this month to see her .

I have a friend who is pro Trump . We chose not to discuss politics or religion . The friendship continues .

I have lost respect for a lot of people because of their support of #3. I’ve also had to unfriended several people (Mostly family) because of their hate speech to me. It’s a sad state of affairs and truly baffling that anyone with any sense supports such a horrible individual.

I see these people in a different way now and I am totally disgusted by them.

@helionoftroy. Me too

Politics, & religion....poisonous to everything.

I feel your pain....
I'm not unfriending these people - for the time being I simply designate to not see anymore posts from the sites that they are sharing and that helps to defuse my anger without actually cutting them off completely. I hope that one day - after this trump reign of terror is finally over - most of those people will say (pretend) they just didn't know how bad he actually was. whatever. 😟

I feel for you. My contact losses (duecto trumpism) have been mostly folks who were not very close to me. I have lost far more, who were close, to death, due to age, habits, and circumstance.

I don’t understand why it is necessary for politics to cause these rifts.

@williamfleming......

well lets see.....
My male first cousin unfriended me on facebook after I disagreed with his post that we should eliminate the barrier between church and state. He wants the US to be a Southern Baptist country.

My female cousin who is married to a payday lender unfriended me because she insisted I quit making and criticism of the president on my facebook. I declined and she unfriended me.

One of my best friends in sales for over 20 years kept sending me pictures of himself inside a Trump rally. I texted him to please not do that anymore. That we can be frineds, but I didnt want to hear or know about his participation with DT. He hasnt spoken to me since.

I can go on, but does that give you a sense ?

@Bigwavedave I guess I can understand a little bit. I had a guy who was constantly sending links to silly right-wing propaganda. It was sort of insulting that someone would be trying to indoctrinate me into their opinions as though those were the only correct opinions anyone should have, and that I was not smart enough to form good opinions but needed a helping hand.

It would be insulting no matter what opinion the person was touting—even if I agreed. For that reason I try to never come on strongly about politics or religion. I value peaceful relationships—most issues are only marginally important, and they will be worked out through the democratic process without my being emotionally involved.

Such blindness to lack of morality causes traumatic alienation. It causes a kind of PTSD. I've experienced and struggled with that.

2

I, too. You think you know someone, their values, their morals, their ethics.
