They are quiet because they know that the facts stand against them and Trump and that fact is being made obvious in public. Thjey also know that Trump's lawyers are doing nothing more than playing false and unethical games and that also is being made public. Finally, they know that the impeachment is likely to fail because of the lack of courage, morality and patriotism among Republican senators. Simply put, they are ashamed and should be.
