I don't know why but certain people just don't take a good picture. They are beautiful in person but their pictures just don't work. Wierd smile dumb expression, something just doesn't look right. Other people may not be physically well gifted in person but shine in a photograph. I've tried different technics such as taking rapid-fire fifteen or twenty exposures thinking one or two would be complimentary but to no avail. Am I alone here or has anyone else noticed this or understand why other than maybe my efforts in photography just suck.
..back in the day.. My wedding gift to family & friends was ‘shooting their wedding.’ Some would also use ‘a pro,’ most, only me. I took it seriously, and got really good! I’d get the candid, less formal stuff no pro could, or would
But I know of the one’s you speak of. You can’t let on what a problem they are.. Often, it’s in the pep talk. It’s your attitude, and since these were family or close friends, I was into it.
Had a sister in law who’d whine about ‘how bad she looked in pictures.’ I told her, ‘that’s way.’ Relax ..work with baby Or, ya just gotta watch em, they’ll eventually have fun doing something - and you’re there, they look great - and everybodies happy
A favorite comment from the newlyweds was, “How’d you get so-in-so to smile?” ‘They were just having a good time,’ I’d reply..
I look like some kind of mean stupid individual when I try to smile for photographs!!!
When I do all my face muscles contort into a strange post of some contorted meanness!!!
One good trick for photos of faces is to use a short to moderately long telephoto lens length, standard lenses are not at all flattering to anyone, you end up with a big nose and tiny ears if nothing else.
Are you talking about me? HUH? Just because I have a big nose and tiny ears?
Go ahead......make fun......
