THEY’VE DONE IT!
The 35 year old hit ...Take On Me by a-ha , which was a #1 in 32 countries in 1985, just passed the 1 Billion view Mark on YouTube...only the 4th band/artist from the 20th century to do so. These Norwegians join Guns n Roses, Nirvana and Queen in this exclusive club. Yes, that’s what I’m saying...not The Beatles, not The Rolling Stones nor other any other artist or band from before 2000 has managed to achieve this feat! The band, Morten, Magne and Pal will be celebrating enroute to Perth, Australia on their year long world tour..and they still sing it live all of 35 years later!
Holy moly. I have been searching to ID this song. YOU did it! Thank you. =0}
Glad to be of service, a-ha are my favourite band, with best vocalist in the world.
Cool video!
Great song, great band, superb vocalist!
Woohoo!
I take responsibility for at least 80 of those views.
Only 80!
Those are just the you tube views! I still own the CD.
I'd be responsible for all 1 billion "listens."
@Athena The whole Hunting High and Low Album is brilliant. I still listen to it all the time....I actually prefer The Sun Always Shines on TV...and I adore Here I Stand And Face The Rain! They’re on tour playing the entire album in sequence to celebrate 35 years since its release.
I MUST see them live at some point. I loved that album and recall seeing the video on our music video station as a child. But, I had no idea they were as popular as they are, until you posted about their record breaking accomplishments!
@Athena if you get the chance you must! I’ve seen them a few times and am going to see them in Oslo in November (my Xmas present from my son Neil), and he is coming with me! He is so good to me..I’m lucky on both counts...seeing a-ha live and having a lovely son. Btw I posted them in my Music Group this morning and last night in Classic Rock. In case you missed the posts here they are at one of their best concerts ever in 2010 when they gave a final concert in Oslo prior to splitting up. Thankfully they got back together again in 2015 with a great new album Cast In Steel and then they started touring again. I know you’ll enjoy this concert I have it on DVD.
Thank you so much! I trust it will be a fantastic concert. How nice that your son is taking you. It's a lovely way to experience some joy together, after the familial losses you've both endured.
Xoxo
@Athena It will.
