Heard a new word today, well, new to me anyway, it is ECLECTIC, does any one know anything about it? Other than what one would find on the net.

Oh! Eclectic "spirituality" probably fits a lot of people here. I'd say it would describe the practice of taking bits and pieces one appreciates from various spiritual paths one has studied and mixing them together for a happy spiritual stance that reflects some positive attributes about spirituality, while discarding the negative or useless.

The word was paired with spiritual, eclectic spirituality, there isn't much on it, that why I was making the inquiry. Thanks for the input.

Um, within interior design it kind of keeps both usages. It refers to a mixture of styles or articles which are chosen due to a theme, e.g. birds/ geometric shapes or monochrome. Hence it is at once specific choices and variety. Which is quite neat as I didn't know about its earlier meaning described by Lenhazell53 🙂

Diverse, enjoying, and or understanding/identifying with a wide variety of subject matter. Variety, one of the greatest spices of life.

Eclectic is one of those strange words that has in effect reversed it's meaning over time.
Originally meaning a selected item, a chosen thing, it has in time come to mean a choice of things, a wide ranging selection.
it has gone from meaning a definite article to meaning heterogeneous in the space of 200 years between the 17th and 19th century

So, over time had it become a new religion or something in that order?

@MrDragon I'm sorry I do not understand what you mean

@LenHazell53 is it one of those new age religious things?
