I recently bought a crock-pot and learning to use it. I like the idea of slow cooking food and letting it do its thing appeals to me. Do you have any experience using one and what would you suggest or recommend I try?
There's a slow cook mac and cheese recipe you can throw together in five minutes and leave to cook. Great when I can't get a meal on for the kids. They're able to finish off the cooking (in fact doing most of the work) while I get to work on time.
Get a couple of pork chops, just seal them in a frying pan with onions and garlic and mushrooms in butter and olive oil. put in your slow cooker and pour a can of chicken and mushroom soup over it. it's delicious and easy.
Yes use for pot roast, beef stew, split pea w/ham soup, chicken cacciatore.
I make a very good posole in the Crock-Pot, that isn't that hard, it's good and hearty, and you can spice it up quite a bit. Here's an easy one, take pork loin and put it in the crock pot with a can of root beer, let it cook on low for 5 or 6 hours, remove, shred, and serve with your favorite BBQ sauce and Cole slaw on an onion roll.
That sounds like a fun way to do it...do you use any spices?
With the shredded pork the spices are all in whatever BBQ sauce you make. In the posole, I put chili powder, cumin, oregano, but I also put some tomatillos, chopped Green chiles, and lotsa jalapenos. You eat it with fresh chopped cilantro on top. ?
I love to make chicken taco meat in the crock pot. It is delicious. In fact, I think I will make that tomorrow for dinner.
Red or green chili is great cooked this way. I also like the part when I come home and the house smells like dinner is ready.
My favorite crock pot meal is kinda an evolved form of chicken cacciatore, cut up chicken breast add a jar of ur favorite spaghetti sauce, then for me, I add olives, mushrooms, onions, basil and oregano, and maybe a bell pepper, cook for about 6 to 8 hours, it is traditionally served over linguine, but rice works 2, top with mozzarella. I guess since u boil the noodles or rice on the side, its not strictly a crock pot meal, but it is epic!
I grew up with them and use them. Anything you want to make you can do it in a crockpot, spaghetti sauce, even cake lol
I don’t know what you enjoy eating so I say go on a search site and look up crockpot recipes. I make a only vegan foods, but if you eat meat, corn beef and cabbage is yummy, any meat cooked in a crockpot is good.
