All the way back in 1917 a famous "miracle" supposedly took place in Fatima, Portugal where three children were ostensibly visited by a Marian apparition -- a vision of the Virgin Mary. These visitations went on for months and culminated in the "Miracle of the Sun,", where thousands of people supposedly witnessed the sun detach itself from the firmament and move wildly in the sky. (not seen anywhere else in the world where the sun was visible) Finally the Virgin Mary left a message for mankind that was not to be revealed for thirty years -- a warning of a punishment on Man by Gawd.

There's a lot more to the story but that's it in a nutshell. I first heard about this many many years ago as a child being raised a Roman Catholic and I was afraid of what the message would be. In the fullness of time, I grew up and became atheist and didn't think much about this stuff but it turns out the message was finally revealed in 2018 and I just had to go find it...and I did.

So here it is, the thing that terrified me as a child when I still bought this shit without question.

"First, a World-Wide Warning that will happen in the sky...like the collision of two stars that do not fall down... it will frighten all humanity regardless of where one happens to be at the time... it will be a thousand times worse than earthquakes... like a fire that will not burn our flesh ... it will last a very short time, although to us it will seem to be a very long time ... no one can prevent it from happening ... It will be recognized as coming from God... it will resemble a punishment ... it is meant to be a purification ... like the revelation of our sins and what we will feel in our hearts will be worse than sorrow. It will not kill us, if we die it will be caused by the emotion within us. The date was not revealed only that it will happen before the announcement of the miracle."

So that's it. Some vague suggestion that something "miraculous" will happen on some undefined date. That was the terrifying warning given to us by the Virgin Mary herself.

How did I ever believe this shit?

CORRECTION: This was the miracle at Fatima, not Garabandal as I originally posted. All this crap just sort of blurs together in memory after so many years have passed.

Just show how easy it for an imaginative kid to get gullible idiots to believe any old crap

I'm not sure how you ever believed it but the facts are that only in that area and at that time was the sun seen to dance around wildly in the sky. If we go by sun activity as seen that day by the rest of the world it simply could never have happened.

Of course it didn't. It's just another ridiculous claim by religion that only the ignorant faithful could possibly believe.

This was a modern-day miracle as well ... until, you know ... somebody used their head for something more than a hat rack.

I was a very devout Roman Catholic kid. As an altar boy, I learned the mas in Latin, Spanish and English. Mass 2 or three times a week. Stories like these scared the crap out of me!As I grew out of faith, I grew out of fear. Things going bump in the night went from possible daemons to just a reaction to a physical cause I did not know. Sometimes I investigated and learned the simple truth, but more likely, just shrugged, rolled over and went back to sleep. Atheism is so much more comforting...

I remember the movie when I was a kid. They played it a lot on TV when Kennedy's funeral was on all the other channels for three days, except for that one channel. Longest three days of my life.

Children tend to be credulous. It is part of their survival mechanism as children. Being able to question what you are told develops as an adult, but some people are so brain damaged during their childhood that they do not develop that ability.

Welcome to brain damaged adults inflicting brain damage on the children of their day. I am glad your brain survived.

As am I.

And in much more recnt times from Coogee, NSW, Australia comes this "sighting" of the Virgin Mary. The event put into song by old friend Ian MacIntosh & in performance ably supported by other members of the Wheeze & Suck band.

Interesting. Here is a photo where you can see the reality a little clearer (if you click on it): Well, I edited my comment and my photo disappeared, lol.

@thislife "divine" intervention or just another flaw in the system?

@FrayedBear I guess Her Holy Virginess has favored me after all. The picture has miraculously reappeared!

@thislife lol, I thought that you must have reposted the whole thing.

@FrayedBear No, it was all "Her" 😂

If people buy that sort of shit It's easy to see why some people pay $3000.00 for a vacuum cleaner that you still have to push yourself! 😉

Praise the Lord!!

Well, I suppose we can actually prove this miracle. And that a good one.

@starwatcher-al That totally depends on who you ask. 😉

@KKGator Hey, you're on here and that's at least one point.
