Facebook and I play this little game every month or so. What they do is send me targeted ads, and I either hide them as irrelevent or mark them as offensive. After 2 to 3 days I stop getting ads. We laugh, go have a beer or 3, and then wait till they start sending me ads again.

Rinse, repeat, dance, frolick, and play. Until now. Now they've upped thier game. Fully 2/3 of what they send me now are ads for churches and/or church related fundraising scams.

As an athiest who really and truely thinks marketers are a mere half step above preachers I find these ads extremely offensive and mark them so. But there is no way to tell them excately why I think these ads are offensive.

I usually mark them as scammers, but is there a way thats more effective anyone has found in getting rid of them? I asked FB, but got nothing resembling help.

I treat most Facebook ads the same as I do those in newspapers and magazines. Slide right on by them and read the things from friends and of interest to me. Ads help keep things free, or in the case of news, magazines and even snail mail, reasonably priced. The weekly survey and fund raising mail from the Nazi Party Judicial Watch gives me great pleasure to shred, though I did send the first one back with “FUCK YOU NAZIS” in magic marker on it! 😄 Religious or Trumplican Facebook ads I just swipe by. My guess is if you respond at all, it just encourages them to send more.

Actually I get the majority of the time I spend on FB (which isn't much) ad free. Its literally 2 or 3 days then 3-6 weeks of no ads. Most I mark as irreverent and don't care - I figure I'm trading a little extra time now for lots of not having to scroll by later, and it works. I'm not interested in buying anything and am quite honest when I mark them irreverent.

I understand how advertising works and why FB is considered "free" because it's ad supported. However, if it's identified me as a non religious individual and I'm being targeted for religious based advertising because of that I'd really like to know.

I just really want them to know that I find advertisments for religious anything offensive and why. I get notices they review them, but no follow up.

Ditch Facebook, then you need never see them again😱

Small group of people I keep in contact with that way. Unfortunatly.
