Some Atheists can be just as self righteous and judgmental as Christians/religious people. Change my mind......
In my opinion there is nothing to change your mind on. Being an Atheist does not a stellar human being make!
Yes, I am totally ruthless when it comes to demanding of theists that they produce falsifiable evidence to support their existence claims of their gods.
Perhaps, only atheist don't blame their behaviour on trying to please their imaginary friend
No we don't. I'd rather blame my real friends for my behavior.
Have you read angry posts by Bernie Sanders supporters today? Here on Agnostic.com. The venom is indistinguishable from that of religious zealots.
I have yet to encounter an atheist that asserts you will burn in hell forever because an all powerful god that loves them (because, unlike you, they are holy and righteous) and you, not as worthy as they are, will spend their just eternity in hell.
I, atheist assert you will spend eternity in education in the sciences for the rest of time!
Self-righteousness exists in all groups. Even the Purist Agnostic.
Still, the theists claim to have god on their side, which comes with "special knowledge" and license to commit atrocities in the name of their preferred deity. So no, I think the bible-thumpers are a cut above the rest.
When was the last time an atheist told you you would burn in Hell if you did not accept every proclamation s/he made?
Yep, they have "hell" on their side. Carrot and stick threats, mobster politics.
Amen, Sister!!! Let's say Hallelujah!!!
@VeronikaAnnJ, there's a bit of everything everywhere. My reply to this was a bit of a joke. Some people will take it easier than others, it's normal. I hope I have made you laugh a bit with my reply.
@VeronikaAnnJ, great stuff. If we take things too seriously we go mad. I think we have already too much going on at the moment.
@VeronikaAnnJ, great to hear you're having fun. We need it at this point.
@VeronikaAnnJ, never mind what they say or think. People tend to judge and criticise more based on perceptions than in facts. Don't worry about it. Just enjoy!!!
People are people and everyone can have those particular failings. You aren't wrong, but the implication that atheists somehow claim they can't be is wrong.
Just being an atheist does not speak anything about empathy. Speaking for myself, I do judge the nonsensical choices of the religious. For example, the local poor would rather donate money to a temple than educate their children. I wouldn't even claim to stop at mere judgment, but even enjoy mocking religious activities which make for good jokes in the right company.
Not our job...troll somewhere else.
Lol
Religion is a mental affliction
@Mcflewster religion is no more a mental affliction than other delusions are. they are both symptoms of the affliction.

If someone tells me that they ride a flying unicorn to work, you can bet I will be judgmental toward them.
.
And speaking as an Agnostic . . . . AFTER these purveyors of bull shit PROVE their bull shit, I'll not judge them.
I agree. To play off another well known phrase... Same assholes, they just have less imaginary friends
Ye
Agree. People fall into their tribes. Tribe outsiders are ridiculed...
Back in the good ol' days we killed & ate them, or enslaved them! Good times, good times
I couldn’t change your mind even if what you said was not the truth.
@VeronikaAnnJ Most of us simply are not intelligent enough Oh . . . I am so envious! <3 <3 <3
@VeronikaAnnJ No no no, you win! And you know it deep inside, victory is yours! Very few people got your joke, because very few people are intelligent enough. Isn't that the implication? But, I'm feeling a bit cynical today, watching America fall is stressful - so I apologize and I'll get out of your way.
The "some" in your question implies that such attitudes, while existing among Atheists, exist to a greater degree among Theists. I would agree to this. And for 2 decades I could not bring myself from the position of Agnosticism to that of Atheism. That required the knowledge I've since acquired from digging deep into information that was not readily available to me at the time. That many Theists have never even questioned their beliefs and/or are often discouraged from doing so, it is no wonder that the named attitudes would be more prevalent in them.
