I attacked some stumps with a Sawzall & got some old metal fencing cut up & stomped down ready for garbage day!

It all sounds too productive.
@ToolGuy "softened them up"...neighbor attacking with a Bobcat today...we are putting in the final section of chain link, one of the stumps is, of course, exactly on the line.
