To block or not to block...
[medium.com]
Versus
[datamation.com]
I think the latter of the two has the right idea. Have you ever been thought negatively of by others simply because you are willing to use the block button when need be? I sure have been, especially on this site. It's amazing how some people take it so personally being blocked online, and could be a sign that society is becoming too sensitive. I've been blocked by many and not one time has it ever bothered me, nor do I automatically conclude the individual(s) who blocked me are mean or bad people, as all they did was make a personal choice. One point that was not mentioned in either of those articles that should be taken into consideration, is that not everyone blocks because they are mad or get offended easily, but rather because they might be on limited data plans and don't feel like wasting data on posts/comments that they have no interest in whatsoever. I would fall in that category, I'm currently active on three social media sites and have to balance data consumption. No matter where you stand on the blocking issue, that point should be taken into deeper consideration.
So what's your take on this issue?
Itβs one of those issues where the care factor is just about zero.
Same here.
I've never blocked anyone, but have taken timeouts from social media and real life whenever I find myself wanting to slap the stupid out of people.
I assume I've been blocked but don't really care enough to find out.
Timeouts from social media is always a good thing.
