Watching the late night shows tonight broadcasting with no audiences. Colbert was a disaster! Jimmy Kimmel has Mayor Pete as a guest host, which is pretty funny. It has to be tough for these guys to not get audience reactions. Even for the bands, who are there to amuse the audience during commercial breaks: now they are playing to an empty room. They have their staff sitting in the audience area, but it definitely wasn’t working for Stephan Colbert.
The bands shouldn’t have a problem because if they have properly served their apprenticeship they will have played many gigs to the drunk and his dog in the corner.
As far as the presenter is concerned, he is a professional and gets paid vast amounts of money for no apparent reason.
Care factor for their angst is close to zero!
As a stand up comic myself, I cannot stress how much audience feedback assists the comic, I feel so bad for them
@maturin1919 now & then, just around here. Sometimes I combine karaoke (a cappelka) and comedy.
You could watch the timing All good comedians know timing. You say something funny, then take a beat for the audience to laugh or react. Last night, no audience, just a moment of silence. I think he finished the bottle of bourbon!
