He was right

Because THIS government is the problem. Reagan had a big hand in making it so.

Right now, on TV, 4:430pm 3/13, drumpy is telling us we will get the needed supplies to combat this National Emergency (vs. "Hoax" less than a week ago) by getting supplies from "the VA and other agencies".....in short, there is waaaaaay not enough stuff to go around & the weakest are getting thrown overboard.

@AnneWimsey

Hating Trump will not help us. The enemy will do what they want to do. Win and do things their way. If we don't like it, we have to find a good general to lead us to victory. That's where the problem is. Does Bernie look like a general to you?

@St-Sinner and yet the responsible suggestions being made to help us get through this look EXACTLY like Medicare for All, exactly!

@AnneWimsey

We say good things were done with socialist ideas. Social security is bankrupt. Every year we hear an outcry that they won't have money in 5 year or 10 years. The post office is in a loss every year and its look and service both have been pathetic for years. Federal Express and UPS (Both private) have sucked all oxygen out of the post office. Why do we need another socialist idea?

@St-Sinner Because unbridled capitalism does not work for 90% of Americans. The GDP ALL goes to the top 1% with none trickling down to the 90%. Back before Reaganomics 70% of the GDP made it the majority of Americans. A democratic socialist appoach works very well.
The current level of inequality is the same that Americans faced before the market crash in 1929.

@silverotter11
Therefore the answer is "Controlled Capitalism", not socialism. Wrong doers must be punished in capitalism which they are not currently.

The reason for our failures, miseries, poverty is not necessarily the rich. We have to try to understand it. It can be us.

@St-Sinner In any well fucnctioning society there needs to be help for the weaker. We had that before deregulation and the union busting we saw with Reagan and many Republicans since. Never said it was the fault of the rich but the rich that REFUSE to fix a system that they KNOW is flawed but would rather continue to take advance of is wrong, morally and ethically. The poor have NO power in a system rigged against them.

@silverotter11

If you want that to happen, you should look to Cuba.

In the U.S., everybody should be lifted, not just the weaker section. That is the whole idea of a leveled playing field. Anybody can start a business, anybody can do anything. We have rags to riches success stories every day. It is not the responsibility of the rich to lift the poor all the time.

Let us tax an extra 25% for all middle class and poor and the government should give it back to them equally. See how the poor would like it.

The United States with its successful capitalism offers opportunities to not just all citizens but people migrating from all around the world to success and many success out of poverty.

Communism is not the answer, what Cuba has accomplished is great BUT it too is flawed. Our system is flawed, the idea that people choose to be poor is flawed. The south was forced to end Jim Crow but the spirit of that sort of inequality lives on and is a huge impedicment for many.

@St-Sinner
Let’s see... putting Bernie down, and defending Trump.
Yep. I thought so.

@skado

I see how it is and I just describe. Bernie is losing. It is a fact. Trump is very likely to win re-election. That is a reported fact. The third fact is I think both are useless to the nation and are idiots.

I hope you can see objectively as I do.

@St-Sinner
I guess we all like to think we see things objectively.

@skado
Right, I agree. We also see things differently. I am not putting Bernie down. He is going down and that's how the news is every day. Should I not believe reported facts?

@St-Sinner
Did you describe Bernie as a winner when he was ahead?

@skado

Yes, to tell the truth, I described how many things could happen if Bernie was elected. I came close to accepting such a scenario. I said... wait, think of how many bad things could hapoen to us if Bernie was elected.

Look at my posts and comments. I am telling the truth.

@St-Sinner
Always in negative terms. You have never liked Bernie (or anyone else) and that isn't objectivity - it's personal preference... just the same as what we all have.

@skado
Should I have liked Bernie in spite of his crazy candidacy and crazy ideas? Do you expect all Democrats to like Bernie?

@St-Sinner
No, and no. You should realize the difference between objectivity and personal preference, but I realize that might require some objectivity.

The Neo-conservatives have planned for these opportunities for decades. It's called "Disaster Capitalism".

We know there will be disasters in our future. We just don't know what or when. When the 9/11 attacks happened the right-wing already had the elements of the USA Patriot Act on paper and ready to go. When the banks went broke in 2007-2008, the right-wing already knew how to benefit because they caused the crisis.

And now, due to active neglect and sabotage, they are doing it again with Wall Street.

Don't blame "the government". Blame Republicons.

We need to stop bickering among ourselves and realize our elected officials are the terrorists in our government.

Including the Democratic ones???

@JackPedigo oh give it a rest, you fool!

@AnneWimsey Have to hand it to you, you don't mince words. lol

@JackPedigo yep, sad to say many of them are corporate bought as the gop members.

@JackPedigo I'm too old, life is too short.....

@AnneWimsey So what does that make me?? I'm a bit older than you. It may be short but it is still going on.

@AnneWimsey, @silverotter11 Of course we all know about absolute power. But many are still well meaning and care about certain issues. + often things politicians do aren't appreciated by all. Politics, like life is full of compromises and pragmatism.
My question is what can we do?? Should we all become libertarians and get rid of our government? Should we privatize our infrastructure and remove all public property (parks, schools) and let private corporations run everything. You and I are on the same page as far as overpopulation goes. So now we have a large population with a huge footprint. Many come from other cultures and speak different languages. How do we manage this 'melting pot' without vitriol and violence. Many politicians are like priests who have come to realize their beliefs and passions are false and not working so they take what they can and to hell with the country/church.

@JackPedigo my expectations of government are "by the people, for the people" like they taught us in grade school. We are So far from that now I think the only way out might be major upheavals like the French Revolution, leading to.....???

@AnneWimsey Sorry, didn't mean to laugh. It's just where I currently live it is mostly republican but there are many progressives, dems and independents and trying to get them to agree on any damn thing is VERY difficult. I have seen first hand the attitude of realtors verses geology studies on water in the county, fish verses people (I always vote for the fish) even the folks in Roslyn (where Northern Exposure was filmed) and Cle Elum are not very friendly with each other. Remember, for the people by the people was written at a time when those 'people' were white, male and landowners or businessmen. The premise still applies but unless we get a better crop of candidates to represent us all the technology to connect with them isn't going to help if they refuse to listen. A majority wanted witnesses and the fact that a majority in one body of government denied the majority that right at a trial really angers me.

@AnneWimsey And how many people died and were tortured needlessly during that time? We should be past the time of violence and death. Nature is doing that for us just fine. We need to follow our laws to make the changes that need to be made. And we need to recognize the importance of our life-support system and that it is the activities of a bloated human population that is the main driver.

@silverotter11 The constitution was written when most of the country was empty and rural. Now with the rise of mega urban areas this has been a major polarizer. Once, when we visited Vienna Austria we saw the exact same thing in play. Most of the country looked down on Vienna and we heard lots of negative comments, even in Salzburg, about the idiots in the big city. The tendency is probably universal.
