Religious friends and Coronavirus. I have quite a few religious friends. It's amazing how many, including educated ones, think Jesus and prayer will protect them from Covid19. Your experiences?
The God-stupid people are, shockingly enough, still sounding like morons.
Surprise! Surprise!
Shocking indeed!
I have very few religious friends, and those friends are only weakly religious. None of them are stupid enough to believe that prayer can be effective against Covid-19.
I was brought up in the Seventh-day Adventist religion, which has finally vanished from my rear view mirror. But I still have many friends & family in the faith, some in the medical field. No matter what whacky beliefs Adventists hold, one is not a reliance on prayer to heal, as their medical system (Loma Linda University, Advent Health, etc.) does not include divine intervention as a medicine.
I have a fair number of religious friends and family, but none that believe prayer will protect them from this. More that they're praying for intercession that never comes. It's not something I discuss with them. We have a live and let live type of relationship.
If I’ve any religious friends, I avoid that topic.. Praying always appears easier than ..thinking, or doing. It’s a mental copout. A bad habit. Leaves us to do the thinking for them.. Honestly, if this culls the herd, beginning with humanities ignorant ..no loss.
complete hogwash
Well, obviously! But I was asking about people you know who believe that...
