A Conservative Republican with scruples? How odd! Most will lambast socialism until their industry or company is in trouble. Then suddenly unrestricted government monetary support is wonderful! Non of the top management will take a pay cut, but laying off hourly workers causes them no problem.
But talk about using government money to support public health, provide education or supply housing, suddenly you’re a communist bloodsucker! Haley seems to be true to her conservative beliefs and making a stand against corporate welfare. How unique!
“ March 19 (Reuters) - Boeing Co said on Thursday Nikki Haley, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has resigned from its board, opposing the company's move to seek financial support from the federal government amid the 737 MAX and the coronavirus crisis. Her racist stance on Palestinians and her nationalist positions while Ambassador to the U.N. are two of the many reasons to despise her. An occasional position of morality does nothing to change my opinion of her.
How is it racist?
@racocn8 Her general outlook is anti-Palestine,
and pro-Israel. That is a fair position although somewhat impartial. However, as an example in a vote a couple of years ago the whole council voted for a pro-Palestine motion apart from USA, someone else and an abstention from Honduras.
She then embarked on a tirade about what a bad idea it was. If I can find the clip I will post it.
@Geoffrey51 Just to be clear, Nikki Haley is an utter piece of shit, wholly self-serving with the usual idiotic wingnut values, and... presidential aspirations. Yikes, what a thought!!! Both Israelis and Palestinians are horrific bigots motivated by their primitive religions, but Islam is somewhat more primitive than Judaism. A small percent of Judaism leans towards modern humanism, and that gives them the moral edge over the Arabs. But the Reform wing is still a small minority; the rest are as bad as the Catholics. The Jews still have a very long way to go. Many/most of them are still obnoxious and undeservedly arrogant, and have their heads up their asses.
@racocn8 That may be so but my point is that the votes had been cast with a resounding majority, the subject is irrelevant, she proceeded to enforce her point after declaration. What her thoughts were are irrelevant.
Imagine if every representative took to referencing their displeasure at an outcome every time they lost a vote. Chaos would ensue.
She and the USA do not have that privileged position at the UN council.
@Geoffrey51 actually, they do, along with Russia and China.
I still don't trust her.
Didn't say I trust her or that it makes her a better person. Just that for a conservative Republican it shows a tiny bit of integrity, something most of them have none of.
