You know those good people that have it set in their heart, they are going to share their salvation with someone today. They are going to use any opportunity god places in front of them to give a testimony. I see them too, and they're motivated. Until they meet me. I will let them get into the meat of what they want to say and then I proceed to drop logic bomb after logic bomb. Questions that probes into the very epistemology of the why and the how they believe what they believe. By the end of the encounter they leave more upset and frustrated than when they came into the conversation. If you thinking, "Why are you being deliberately offensive?" First, it's not offensive, it's fair, because behind every kind hearted attempt to reach out to a lost soul, there is a judgmental fact that you believe I'm lost, broken, and cannot have peace or joy without your myth, which is a lie. Because you look at me like I'm crazy for not believing in something that has no evidence and we somehow cannot be moral because we are "worldly". Spoken like a true cult. So, before you feel offended because I demand good reason and evidence, remember, it is religion that wants impose itself on everyone and control them. I'm just exercising equality and demand your beliefs can be demonstrated and verified. The only thing worse than a believer that chastises you for asking questions, is a believer that doesn't talk to those that ask questions.
Perhaps you are casting your pearls b4 swine ? I usually blow off believers with a single retort :::: you sound like a Nazi trying to convert Jews to German Lutherans Church.....how ever that I reply to beliefs spewed upon me I can be fundamental.....what is a gawd thing you are gibbering about???? geebush jeehobah ghostholes? Sounds more stupid than Pinnochio or teeth fairies.....five minutes of your life with total strangers can be better spent WWW.HOWIEHAWKINS.US peace through Green jobs
The logic bomb of "Where is your falsifiable evidence to support your existence claim of your god?" shuts them up completely every time I ask it.
I can agree and I do a similar thing. As a former believer I often notice how people claim they can be "moral" without god. I'm not trying to be moral. Morality is most often guided by your societal structure and does not come from gods. Especially the one that tried to kill everybody.
@K9Kohle789 So do I. Why is everyone striving to be moral?
If you are so aspirational maybe you could consider writing in paragraphs. It’s not hard. You just need to break up your ideas.
A wall of text is unpleasant to read, regardless of the context. I just scanned because of this and all I got was arrogant atheist who knows best.
I’m sure that’s not true so perhaps a little more attention to construction might aid your cause...whatever that may be.
the thing about beliefs is, they should be subject to change, right? So your strategy works well with those who usually reveal pretty quickly that they do not actually have beliefs, but rather Absolute Truths, that they of course cannot demonstrate, imo. Fwiw i think this is why believers are referred to in the Bible as twice the sons of hell you (pharisees) are, with seven worse spirits?
he who says he knows, does not yet know as he ought
and also manna is called what is it? not for nothing i guess
I do a similar thing. I allow them to speak, and I read the literature they give me. Then I ask them to back up the story with facts and evidence. That seems to perplex them. Then I show evidence that the Biblical prophets made predictions that did not come true (and the time for fulfillment is past), that there are contradictions in the Bible, etc. That's when they abandon me and leave me alone. I am happy that they drop me, but I do hope that I planted a seed of doubt in their heads, and that they do their own research to resolve the issue, and discover the truth that religion is a scam based on mythology.
