Do you like the state you live in? Living in the Midwest has it's perks, but one thing that freaks me out is all the notorious serial killers who are from here; Jeffery Dahmer, Ed Gein, John Wayne Gacy, the Slender Man killers, etc. My mom actually physically met John Wayne Gacy once!
My mother grew up in the Midwest, like I have, and used to live in Illinois. John Wayne Gacy lived in Illinois. My mom also used to live in Illinois. John Wayne Gacy was a clown who did events at fairs. She went to a fair where John Wayne Gacy was performing at, in Illinois before I was born and actually encountered him during the fair! That just makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
I also know a friend of a friend and his grandfather actually worked for the police in Wisconsin and he was one of the few people who transported Jeffery Dahmer to prison. He was a former Marine and barely ANYTHING scares him. But he said that being in the physical presence of Jeffery Dahmer scared the living shit outta him! That says a lot for someone who never gets scared at hardly anything. Jeffery Dahmer became a born again Christian in prison, (go figure), shortly before a man in the same prison killed him who went by the name "Christ." Ironic as hell.
Note, I did not make this photo. Someone else made it and it's ALL OVER the Internet and people have even bought this shirt.
I don't know what it is about the Midwest.....

I am from Washington State. Green river killer. He lived about ten blocks away. I was working at a convience store for a shift for a sick friend. A guy came in and was asking about a painting job at a semi building plant in Renton. I remember it to this day. On another occasion, I had a minor traffic altercation and needed advise. I went to a free clinic in White center. The guy was Bundy.
I can't believe I ran into both of these guys.
@VeronikaAnnJ He was working for free at a clinic in White Center. Little VW and all.
@VeronikaAnnJ The green river killer was the one that scared us. They were finding bodys everywhere within miles. A girl in the mobile home park I lived in was a victim. I slept with a firearm. He lived on 208th and military and I lived on 208th and 28th.
@VeronikaAnnJ All those descriptions need definition. A lot of definition.
@VeronikaAnnJ Get a dog for protection. Not my dog, he's worthless. Or a cat.
Cats are better for home protection anyway.
@VeronikaAnnJ IF, you intend to purchase a firearm, plan on practicing five hours a month, every month. Don't listen to your friends. Get a lesson from a professional. Study the psychological effect on the shooter even if it is legal, you will also spend months, if not years in court. You might do better with bear spray and a flash bang. Remember, if you wake up in the middle of the night, you're scared, and BANG! Now,,,,you can't see a thing, your ears are ringing so bad they hurt and the perp knows where you are. I have handled guns for fifty years. I am a Vet. I went through three gun safety and training courses.
@VeronikaAnnJ Or, get a rock collection placed at strategic locations, about fist sized. Maybe some glassware from the second hand store?
Pretty creepy story. I'm originally from the midwest. Ne Ohio.
Midwest people tend to be behind the big cities on some things, but most tend to be down to earth and some of the nicest people you can meet.
There are some weirdos, though.
@VeronikaAnnJ Ive actually never heard that phrase.
I like the city I live in. Pennsylvania not so much. Philly has their share of serial killers. Gary Heidnick who was at epicure like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ira Einhorn killed his girlfriend left her in a trunk in his closet. Joseph Kallinger and his young son went on murdering spree, he was a shoemaker in South Philly, his son was 13. Cosmo Dinardo killed 4 friends buried then on his family's property. Anyway I love Philadelphia. It's the greatest city on the world.
Dahmer lived on Miami Beach in 1981. Some think he was behind that awful Adam Walsh murder because several witnesses placed him at the mall.
Florida has had some of the worst serial killers.
Scary to think that two serial killers (Dahmer and Toole) may have been at one place-the Hollywood Mall in Florida- on the same day. The main suspect in the Walsh murder was Ottis Toole. Toole and Henry Lee Lucas became friends and in the late '70s they were known to take off on road trips and stalk across the country often with Toole's young niece and nephew.
This brings up a memory-when I was a kid there were maybe 5 of us kids playing outside on our cul-de-sac in Florida. A man in a car pulled up and asked for directions. None of us approached the car-but one kid went inside to get her mom. Within seconds, the guy drove away. Scary to think what could have happened.
I love the climate but unfortunately Arizona is extremely conservative. This makes it hard to be a single woman who doesn't believe in religion.
