Has anyone lost friends over Trump? I am surprised I havent yet. Trump divides people in a way I have never seen before.

I had a friend who I had known for about 14 years and he only had two others that visited him at all. He loved to argue and became a strong Trump supporter so that whenever I went over we would get into it. I finally had enough and told him several times that either talk about something else or I would visit after the election. He just couldn’t stop himself and I kept my word. After the election I figured that it would be worse. A couple of months ago a guy that parked a trailer on his property hadn’t seen him for a while and let himself in and found him dead on the floor. He had been there for a while. I came to find out that he’d shed his other friends also along with his sister. Nobody had talked to him in months.

With some friends and family I just refrain from talking politics altogether, unless they bring it up.
I have a friend who is a life long republican but our views on many things in government aren't that far apart. In general they do hate poor people though and totally blame them for their plights: they don't believe in systemic social oppression at all, they believe everyone has the same priviledge as whites.

I did a clean slate on my Facebook and got rid of all MAGA people. Best decision ever.

I got rid of most also. I have very little time and don't need to be seeing their nonsense when I'm wanting to be entertained.

I've both lost close friends during discussions and unfriended others over sharing Pro-Trump propaganda. At this point, any remaining support for Trump is a red flag publicly declaring "I'm not smart enough to understand history, I'm not interested to research what I'm told, and I'm not compassionate enough to care for my fellow human being."

I refuse to be friends with anyone who is a Trump supporter. Mainly because I can’t sit and listen to the bull shit coming out of their mouths. Listening to them is like attending a Jehova’s Witness church gathering. I can’t stand the lies, bigotry, and hate these assholes spew. It’s really not any different than religion.

I was raised atheist ( atheist father) in a family of religious on both ends. Mother and father family. And all kinds of religions. So being constantly harrassed to become one religion or the other or to side to one political party to another was the meal of the day. I never know who is talking to who anymore. I find the older people has better sence of humor than my generation to present. They are more tolerant or happier. They do whatever they feel is right and don't spend time arguing on politics or religion. Only one life, live it, get away from negativity and let them fudge themselves.

Nearly all our friends would not have considered voting for a lying, misogynistic, abusive, vulgar, adulterous, narcissitic, charlatan and gameshow host to be president. But then no one I know watches, much less attends, WWF and we live in the Bay Area! But my family, on the other hand ... well you just can't choose your family! So, while I've lost no friends, some of our family (on both sides) are less inclined to engage with me (and vice versa) since the 'Fall of 2016' (pun intended).

Last Thanksgiving, my wife and I decided we needed a vacation from most of our family ... so we made a getaway to Michigan to visit our son in college. And we may do so again this year ... so much less stress in Kalamazoo, where there's always a good brewery nearby! We're just biding time for the inevitable implosion of 'Trumpism.'

Yes. They are hypocrites and choose to stay uninformed

I have right-wing evangelical cousins--we ignore each other. A few of them are facebook friends--I hide them. It has been shocking to see who voted for him.
