O M G, I want that. Tornadoes be damned. Share the recipe? Our family bread pudding involves chocolate.
The beauty of bread pudding is that you can make it however you like it! Mine often includes chocolate chips and/or sauce as well, but this time I went with a vanilla rum sauce with a bit of caramel sauce drizzled on top simply because everything is better with a little caramel. I don't really have a recipe, but my base is simply eggs, butter, sugar (white and brown), milk, heavy cream and whatever spices I decide will go well with my chosen sauce.
@Amzungu Ours, passed down from my maternal grandmother, involves slightly stale biscuits, cocoa powder, sugar, eggs, and milk or ‘cream’ (evaporated milk). The result is dense and rich, almost like a brownie. No recipe, it just has to ‘look right’, lol.
@CarolinaGirl60 That sounds delicious! Grandma's recipes,as cryptic as they can sometimes be, are the BEST.
You sound a bit like me when a Dust Storm rolled in just as I was putting my Damper mix into a nice hot pile of coals from a fire I'd made in my backyard.
I was NOT going to leave my precious Damper bread to get charred to ashes under any circumstances.
Haha, that does sound similar. It had barely been raining and storms weren't even forecast! But so it goes in the midwest. Had I taken shelter, both would have burned. I just couldn't do it. Bread pudding is one of my favorites.
Your determined attitude is an inspiration. It looks delicious and almost as deadly as a tornado.
Thank you, it turned out quite well. I love to bake, and do it often for stress management. The deadlier the recipe, the better the therapy.
Do you love looking over high cliffs without proper protection rails e.g. Grand Canyon?
Have oven mitts at the ready and a straight shot to your shelter. Good luck!
That was my plan. My basement door is just a few steps away from my kitchen.
