I live on a world, and try to live in a world, with a bunch of fucking idiots.
I'm finally comfortable with this truth.
It isn't about religion. Some of the dumbest MFers I know are non-believers. smfh
God Bless America.
Hopefully this will give you a chuckle:
Boris didn't make the finals!
@MsDemeanour no, he’s a bit too smart for that.
@MsDemeanour Teresa May is overjoyed at now not being the worst PM in history
I think that humans commit stupid things at one point in their lives. The good thing is that we have the opportunity to improve.
Not much of a humanist than? I hear you though. I swear my dog has more brains than half the human race. She is certainly kinder. There isn't a racist bone in her body. She's loving and loves life.
@SeaGreenEyez To be fair, I think that most people are good, humble and kind. Unfortunately, it is the high profile people, those who pushed others out of the way to reach the top of their field; the narcissists power-hungry who want to rule the world that get all the headlines.
@SeaGreenEyez yes I suppose you're right. One can certainly be good, humble, kind AND stupid.
@SeaGreenEyez those who appear idiotic could just be brainwashed and parroting the deliberate lunatics....education can cure ignorance but stupid is terminally ill on purposely PROUD
You’re a slow learner! When I was training new drivers at work (bus driver) and a passenger would get on and do something stupid, I would tell them how I handled this situation for the 42 years I worked there. I just figure everyone is stupid, each in our own way. If you accept that fact, then little a person can do will surprise you! Instead of being upset about the stupid people that annoy you, you learn to appreciate those who overcome their own stupidity and be decent human beings.
I always told my trainees that I don’t exclude myself from this view. I was married three times, so I am obviously stupid, for sure.
Nothing to do with stupidity but a great bus driver story.
Many years ago, I was alighting a crowded bus but things were going slowly due to a hunchbacked guy struggling to step off. The driver was unaware of what the cause was and so he shouted; "Come-on folks hurry-up please". To which the hunchback stopped and look back at him in full Egor mode and said; "What do you think this thing is. A f#cking parachute?"
@273kelvin love the story!
I can't say that I'm surprised by your conclusion. I've been a member here for two and a half years now, and I've taken two extended breaks for that very reason. Overall, I'd rather deal with people who are just dumb than dumb and delusional.
@SeaGreenEyez I see, but this site is not immune to it.
It's a universal law of human society that that the less a person knows the more certain they are of their opinions.
It's true here as well as everwhere
i agree with your statement that . " I'd rather deal with people who are just dumb than dumb and delusional. " PM me if you wish .
@SeaGreenEyez I don't like to block people, but I'm grateful for the members who've blocked me. Most were over comments I've made regarding pseudoscience.
Girl, you are NOT alone!! My goal is to ignore them as much as possible. For the really dumb or completely false equivalent shit I see or hear I will respond. Best to take care of YOU first and to the ones who say that is selfish I say fuck off. I can only do what I can do. Hope today's a better one. Hugs
I frequently have to remind myself that we are all chimp cousins and as such prone to the same exuberant outbursts of fear which get expressed through our symbolic language use. Sometimes you just want to pick up a femur and smash sculls. It helps to recognize some of the impulses that race through us sometimes and imagine what it would be like to have less capacity to cope. But yeah, we're basically walking on slippery ice when it comes to surviving each other's company.
There is so much of the time that I agree with what you wrote. What is important to me these days is not important to any others and my limited friends do not see how I can live as I do. They play games of belonging and trying to live up to standards they have learned from their past. I like to think I am beyond that. I haven't given up. There is no aspiration or dreams of anything. Just being and doing what I want. My regret is there is no one to share it with, but just what would I be sharing?
There will be Better Days... despite the abundance of the Dumb.
There are a number of sedatives available 'over-the-counter.
Maybe time to get a pair of blinkers, just like horses have soap not they get frightened.
@SeaGreenEyez people have been picking Presidents like picking horses to bet on.....vote for what you want not who you guess will win
I’m one of the idiots.
Hooray! Me too!
Of course I don't actually think that either of us are idiots - at least, not ALL of the time - but the older I get, the more I see that we all have blind spots in our reasoning.
@SeaGreenEyez Thanks, but it’s more true than false.
@SeaGreenEyez OK. I’ll agree with that
One is really quite limited as to what others do and and how they live. Concentrate and put your efforts on how you live your own life, strive to love your human family, strive to do or cause no harm, strive to stay stress free, happy and enjoy the life you have been given right now and be the unique individual that you are. Embrace love and reject hate.
"To thine own self be true".
My wife often gets cross with me when I make assumptions of intelligence or give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to other people. Most people aren't very bright at all, dim bulbs as the expression goes, they are conformist because it doesn't require much thought.
Perhaps 'herd immunity' would have been the best course of action from the very beginning of this virus, it's not like I have seen much by way of social distancing or proper protective measures being taken because most people are too thick to get it.
I would have taken all of the steps that I started to take back in February before it was even a thing and maybe the herd would have been thinned by now.
A brave thing to say in a public forum, but yes, some groups will be affected early, (and maybe more), because of their lack of insight into the virus, or research about it.
It’s difficult not to make value judgement s about the situation
@girlwithsmiles I just call them as I see them, not with malice but more with a sense of sadness and disappointment that some people are prepared to roll the dice with their lives in order to get their hair cut and they will risk being on a ventilator because they find it awkward to wear a mask and take basic preventative steps to limit the risk of contagion.
God Bless America? God? There is no God. America is in trouble if it has to rely on an imaginary being. Most of the dumbest MFers ARE believers.
@SeaGreenEyez I figured as much but I hate "God Bless America" unless before a Flyers game.
