Romans 7:2
For a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he lives, but if her husban dies she is released from the law of marriage.

My mother was a devout Christian from Italy. My father was not and abandoned her with my two sisters and me still in the womb. He died thirteen years later. My mother, a beautiful woman, lived as a celibate these years and several more until she remarried. This abscene belief, promoted by a misogynistic patriarchy, brought pain and suffering, not only in her life, but the life of her children.
