Has anyone checked out the new social media site MeWe.com? If you did, what did you think? Do you think FaceBook has competition? Is it a site you would want to join or have joined?
Never heard of it
Check it out. You won't know if you like it until you try it.
i will thank you
I'm starting to love this site but I do like to keep my options open.
Lots of different groups to check out and you can even create your own. Might be worth a look.
I'm uninterested. I like this site the most. I rarely use FB now.
Yes - I spend much more time here than FB any more. Thank... Freya(?) for this site! LOL
@poetdi56 Who?
@Sarahroo29 Ancient Norse goddess. Feels better than saying God. Lol
@poetdi56 I thought you were thanking the person whom created this site?! Lol. I don't know the names of most of the gods. I told my boss Thor was a god, and she's all, "The superhero?" Haha.
MeWe's big thing is privacy. I don't think it competes, or really even tries to compete with FB. But I think the site gets a lot of FB users, some of which dump FB. Especially in light of security and privacy concerns and concerns about how FB uses its user's information. I have my issues with FB. I hate how they are monetizing it with ads. I hate how videos are now interrupted by ads. That causes me to just click away.
Are you a member of MeWe?
@Betty It's alright. Nothing like FB, really. You can join groups and connect with individuals. Once connected, you see their posts on a feed on your home page, which is similar to FB. Groups can be locked down and private, often their membership is managed by invitation only. The app allows you to record short videos that you can post in comment threads. Once someone has viewed them, they vanish from that person's view. I'm not a very intensive user of the app so I can't speak in great detail on how to do things there. Hope this helps tho. =]
I had not heard of this but will definitely check it out! Thank you! I would like to see competition for Facebook if for no other reason than it will kick them in the ass to get it together re: fake news, stolen data, better privacy protections and such.
I'll be interested to know what you think about it after you've had a chance to check it out.
