Why do men not smile in their photos?
False leading question....some men do some don't Susan B Anthony was photographed hundreds of times and I have only seen one where the natural smile muscles were in motion towards a Mona Lisa toothless grin
My first thought is that they have bad teeth. Then I blame society for making men believe that women like it when they smoulder. Then there's this trend of mean-mugging to look cool.
Then I realize that women have so much more practice fake-smiling to extract ourselves from situations - and they've never had to master the art.
Still, I wish more of you men knew that your picture is a window into who you are. The up-nostril scowl in a dirty tank top? It's just not a look.
Generally smiling for a selfie is so fake looking itās better not to. And I am usually so focused on trying to get what I want in the picture Iām not even paying attention what my mouth is doing.
It's not hard to get men to smile on a happy occasion, where they are naturally smiling and the photo is spontaneous or candid, but it is often challenging to get a guy to smile for a posed photo. ---
My guess is they don't like smiling for the camera and that's as far as it goes, instead of imagining or thinking about the people who will be viewing the photo, meaning warm friends or family, or a current or prospective lover who has all the qualities they desire. That's how you get a guy to relax and smile! --
Have them think about someone (or something) they love!
About politicians.... There is always a woman around and they do not want to be misunderstood now or later based on photos. Bill Clinton smiled and hugged Lewinsky in the crowd and people suspected immediately of what could be going on. Plus serious looks thoughtful. It about image making in the public eye.
Other men.... They smile only when they get what they want. They also smile more afterwards. Everybody knows what these two things are. However, I always smile a lot in selfies which means before everything happens.
Should we smile? What do we have to smile about?
Any smile that shows my teeth looks fake. I have a grin.
The mask helps take the pressure off!
I'm smiling under my mask.
I actually Say that to random people nowadays
@AnneWimsey me too
Why does anyone smile in a photo might be the first question. They didnāt for the first hundred years or so of photography, or the thousands of years of painting before that. What happened?
They are pondering the complexities of life, ...or thinking about porn.
If I was thinking about porn Iād be smiling....or drooling depending on which porn!
