Lowish or what?
(One hour ago.)
3 hours ago it was 4/89. ie. My systolic is now what my diastolic was. Crazy indeed. Fortunately, apart from a slight dizziness when I stand up, I feel fine.

I once took meds for high BP, but changing my diet led to lowering my BP. It's now chronically around 90/65.

I sometimes suspect certain foods. My pressure tends to drop after eating, especially when bread is involved.
I don't have much salt in my food, but I do have a little sometimes, and I eat very few "processed" foods. Almost all my food is cooked fresh.

What caused you to go into hypotension? Gatorade can help.

I wish I or my vet knew. The crazy thing is that a few hpurs later it can have climbed to 140 - or sometimes still be low!

@Petter Your vet? That's your first problem, you need to talk to an MD or an Osteopath. JK Are you on BP meds? If it's +HTZ that can cause spikes and drops. I had that problem and my doctor changed my med without diuretic. Haven't had the problem since.

@barjoe me too

Interesting I've taken blood pressure medicine for about 6 years and I had a lower reading which made me dizzy as well. I called my doctor and he told me to stop taking blood pressure medicine and come in for a check up. In between I took my blood pressure and it remained normal as long as I didn't take any medicine for about 5 days then went up. When it went up I took my blood pressure medicine again and it would stay down for about 5 days without any medication. My doctor sent me to a specialist and he decreased my dose from 10.5 to 2.5 and took away the diuretic. It has remained constant ever since. My doctor had told me my dosage was very low evidently it wasn't as low as it needed to be.

My fit bit died about a week ago and I bought one that is much cheaper and also takes my blood pressure. I really like it but was concerned it would not be accurate so I checked it with my regular machine and it's always spot on.[amazon.com]

Please talk to your doctor about the reading consistency is healthier. We don't want you to blow a gasket from a rapid change.

I've had my medication changed and I've had my dosages adjusted by my vet quite a few times. My pressure has twice had me in hospital when it went up to 227. I now have emergency tablets for that scenario. I haven't been that high for over a year now, but I have hit 190 a few times, at which point I take an extra Losartan and have a siesta. I also drink plenty of liquids, usislly water, milk or decaffeinated tea.

@Petter Losartan and all ARBs work by regulating your potassium level. Don't take high levels of potassium or foods that are high. Don't use salt substitute, that will do it. Strawberries bananas.avocados. I've been told not to use grapefruit either

if it gets much lower than that drink some pickle juice. The salt in it should bring it back up.

Be careful, Petter. I have had several outs of low blood pressure lately. My bouts make me feel weak, and dizzy, along with a louts of sense of balance. One night last October, I got up to go to the bathroom, and passed out, falling backward, full length, injuring my left elbow when I hit the floor. I could have hit my head very hard.

As a consequence, I check my blood pressure every morning and vary my blood pressure medication according to the reading. That has helped.

I had taken none at all this morning. Last night I took 50mg of Losartan. It's truly erratic.

Here's wishing you the best! 🙂

Might be worth mentioning to your doc. Preferably sooner than later.
Be careful!!

My doctors always ask if I feel dizzy when my BP is that low. I' ve always answered, "No." They just shrug, as if to say that low is OK.

EdEarl Level 8 July 12, 2020

If low is your baseline, you won't feel it. But if you're baseline is high and you drop like that, dizziness is common. My baseline has always been low. Every time I've gone for surgery, anesthesia freaks out until they look at my history.

1

Did you take medication between the higher read and the lower? The lower is still within normal limits, barely, but if the higher number is more your baseline, it could be indicating an issue. Did you use the same arm for BP measurement?

Same arm, no meds between them. BUT I did have a currant bun and decaffeinated coffee shortly after the higher reading. Now, after another 3 hours, it's back to 120.
