Not sure what you mean about the 'sick South',,, but from what I remember, Cal has always been on the fence...

@Captain_Feelgood The sick South are those States ...all of them I think, who’ve continued to promote or glorify treason, racism, religion, anti intellectualism, resource extraction… It’s not only what they’re known for, but what they continue to advocate..

It was interesting growing up on the West Coast, everyone having moved from other parts of the nation would tell us why. As we got their best!

CA thorough my formative years was cutting edge. Illegal immigration and eventual citizenship has greatly slowed that down. Technically, the west coast states have various forms of ‘citizen initiative process,’ allowing ‘the people’ to place innovative ‘measures or propositions’ on their ballots. They did, thus got some very progressive ..laws. CA has faded due to the influx mentioned, but OR & WA are still at it!

@Varn Having been born and raised here in the Triangle, I have quite a different opinion of what you think of the South... I'm really sorry you have been so misled on what we are about now... The history of the South doesn't dictate, nor describe the current South... I hope you find time to research this subject a bit more before casting your ignorant impressions in the future.

I understand a desire for pride in one’s home zone, mine was Portland, Oregon. But until these monuments to treason & slavery, and the Presidential Candidates, US Senators, Congressmen, Governors, State Legislators, Town Councils, Sheriffs, County Commissioners/ Judges/ Supervisors, School Boards & Dog Catchers elected in these sick States change.. is reality not the truth?
