Venting: this is a day 3 of sleepless nights and intractable pain. I can now see better- yeah!- but the nerve damage from life long diabetes is playing me like a mistuned violin. The dog is staying away from me- she can tell my mood. I have so many things to do in the kitchen but no stamina to stand upright. Yes, I have oxycodone tablets, but there is a price to for taking that drug. I am thinking of making an appointment with the Pain Clinic in Rochester, but the last time they sent me home with Tramadol. What a useless drug!
Thanks for listening. I am done complaining. Maybe I'll cry a little.
Brendan, my grandson who lives in my house went out and bought me a bottle of wine. He is such a dear! I hope this will let me sleep tonight.
I'm so sorry you have to cope with this much pain. If venting and crying help even a little, you go for it! We'll listen to you vent all day.
Thank you. You are a dear.
oxy, used as per directions, will help you sleep which will lead to faster recovery...it is not like crack, one dose will not addict you.
Thanks, AnneWimsey. I am already taking oxycodone in very small doses, as emergency medication. It has some unwanted side effects, so I am very careful.
@Spinliesel when i needed it after my first knee replacement failed, (2nd surgery before I had healed from the first one, ugh) I primarily took it before going to bed & before phys. therapy...IMO t is important to get ahead of the pain, not merely react once it has got you in its' grip. Best wishes
Tramadol is horrible and when I used it I have no memory of what I did. Do some reading on chronic pain and pacing.
Thank you. I will do that.
@Spinliesel I'd recommend this book.
@Cyklone Thank you. I will look for it tomorrow. It is my day for the library. I very much like your dog. He/she reminds me of my Rottweiler Hannah, the sweetest dog I have ever had the pleasure to live with.
@Spinliesel Thank you. He is perhaps the most affectionate rottie I've ever owned. He's not as subtle as he thinks he is when he is trying to slowly creep into my lap though.
@Cyklone Yes, it is hard to sneak up on people when you weigh 100 pounds!
So sorry, try a different doctor especially one affiliated with a teaching hospital like maybe Columbia
I have the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital not too far away. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am sorry for your pain. I have been a diabetic for 40 years and knew what the illness could do for me. I changed my diet, have been an exercise rounte for over 30 years, and have changed my entire lifestyle. I am sorry that you did not take precautions, and I am sure that you are, too.
Thank you for your response. I am glad for you.
No words....just hang in there and know our best thoughts are with you!
Thank you. It is the sleepless nights that wear me down. Things will be better tomorrow.
