How does someone this #religulous get nominated to the SCOTUS?
Are we that "religious" as a nation?
The numbers are references in this link;
Barrett is a practicing Catholic[74][75] and also has been an active participant with the small, tightly-knit, nondenominational charismatic Christian intentional community People of Praise.[76][77] Founded in South Bend, the self-described ecumenical "covenant community"[78][79][80] is associated with the Catholic charismatic renewal movement although it is not formally affiliated with the Catholic Church.
Approximately 90% of its members are Catholic.[77][81] In 2015, Barrett signed a letter to the Synod on the Family, giving witness that the Church's teachings on marriage and family are "founded on the indissoluble commitment of a man and a woman".[82][83]
Trump's judges are selected from a list created by the Federalist Society, an ultra-conservative right-wing group. Anti-choice, pro-corporate, anti-union, against separation of church and state. If Barrett had not have been chosen, it would have been someone else just like her. Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were also from this list. This is what Trump set out to do in 2016, to pander to the fundamentalists for their votes. If only RBG could have hung on for a few weeks longer (she should have retired during the early Obama years).
I believe that this makes 6 Catholics on the court if she's voted in. SCARY
You are right - and that is a striking observation (to me). Wikipedia says: "Roberts is one of 14 Catholic justices—out of 114 justices total—in the history of the Supreme Court.[103] Of those fourteen justices, five (Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor, and Brett Kavanaugh) are currently serving. President Trump's nominee for the court, Amy Coney Barrett, is also a practicing Catholic."

As a practical matter it is nearly impossible to be elected to public office if a candidate identifies as a non-believer.
I believe that if a publicly professed atheist were nominated to any judicial post the nominee would be savagely opposed by politicians on both sides of the aisle.
Sucks but that's reality.
Trump is pandering to the religious. In general people are less religious than they once were.
I think a part of Christian activism has to do with their losign members.
They know they are losing the culture war. America is becoming less religious and less white--and this terrifies them. They see the courts as their way to hold on to power, and to push their beliefs onto everyone else.
I don't say this lightly; but, if this woman gets nominated, and Democrats get control of the Senate, the answer might be to expand the court.
she is being nominated by the Orange Idiot, period.
'Nuff said!
@creative51 but...
This needs as much dissemination as possible, methinks.
I think you can click "share" and then pick "Politics" if that's your preference.
Don't forget one religious judge shouldn't be a big deal. It's that they would then have an easy majority for an American Theocracy - that's the big deal.
Absolutely!
It's the fucking Handmaid's Tale...I want to leave this goddamn shithole country so bad but my grandbabies need me so I am stuck. If the POS cheats his way into the office again, I might as well fucking kill myself. #fuckAmeriKKKa
@K9Kohle789 Message me if you need a shoulder. I am in western NC. Thank you for saving furbabies!
You are not alone in feeling this way.
She gets nominated because Barr and Pence want to run a Theocracy, and Trump wants to curry favor with the conservative Xtians. Agenda is running the show, as the lunatics run the asylum!
@K9Kohle789 I almost think Trump is trolling at this point.
@K9Kohle789 Would not surprise me in the least!
