Sunday is "All Souls Day", and a public holiday in Spain. Therefore Monday will be a holiday, in lieu.
Don't you miss having all those religious holidays in the US? The Spanish are truly irreverent but celebrate them with great gusto. That's what is called "separation of church and populace".

November 1st is El Dio des los Innocentes in the Estados Unidos de Mexico. November 2nd El Dio des Los Muetrtos. A blend of a Spanish colony & its indigenous people's customs.

Every day is a holiday for me now.

Likewise. Nowadays the government sends me money, instead of taking it.

Me too, Jolanta. I fell in love with your picture until I found that you had cut your hair but hair can grow back. 🙂

@DenoPenno Oh, no you no longer love me, I am so sad, just devastated.

@Jolanta Yes, i do but your pic after the haircut was blurry.

It's not the religious bull, it's having a day off we all enjoy.

Sunday is All Saints Day. Monday is All Souls Day. November 2 is the standard date for All Souls Day.

Monday and Tuesday no holiday for me. Kids may not like me but I have no Halloween. My sign will point them next door where candy is always given out. I don't even put out food for the dead.

The dead could not eat it anyway.

Day of the Dead, All Souls Day, May have have religious roots which are actually Pagan!!!

Most times it is a reflection of those family members who have passed, more reverence than religious!!!

After living and working in Latin America that is my personal take of Day of the Dead and All Souls Day!!!

The night before, Hallowe'en, is the night of remembrance. The next day, theoretically, is time off to recover from the vigil. In practice, it is to recover from the hangover!

there are too many religious holidays already, and that one is called halloween here, a more secular approach and celebrated with way more gusto than the spaniards celebrate their religious bullcrap "holiday"

Hallowe'en is the night BEFORE. Hence the name.
Since 40% of Spaniards are atheist/agnostic etc, I think you have the wrong end of the stick. They love these holidays as an excuse to take time off work so they can party.
This one is a long weekend this year. Friday evening to Tuesday morning.
If it weren't for the damned lockdown my town would be heaving with visitors from the inland towns, filling all the bars and discos.

@Petter have you been to the US in October and early November? No? Then you would know what I mean.

The holidays were there before the names went on. 😁

Precisely. The modern Spanish do not associate their holidays very strongly with religion. Nearly 40% of the population is irreligious.

I really do not miss being forced to observe religious holidays.
When I was a kid, we were expected to participate in every absurd "holiday" the rcc had on its calendar.
Usually, by being forced to attend the myriad of masses held for them.
Meatless Fridays were also observed.
Midnight mass on christmas eve, sunrise mass on easter Sunday, and all the " high holy days".

It was freakin' ridiculous.

Seen that, been there. 😉 But you can have bacon on Friday. 😋

Not if you celebrate Spanish style - in the bar, or at the beach.

All Saints Day November 1. Halloween, All Hallows Eve, is a religious holiday and I don't celebrate it. I give Christmas gifts because it's expected and people deserve them. I give out candy too because I don't want my neighbors to think I'm a cheapskate and I like kids. I don't decorate my house and I don't dress in costumes.
